I am having some issues with my speedometer. Sometimes (almost randomly), the speedometer will go higher, all the way to 220km/h, no matter what speed you are going. This is also the case if you are stopped and in neutral or 1st gear. The engine is not revving during the time the speedometer is changing, but if you're stopped, the car will sometimes stall. Please help!
You can use the ford fault codes to check with out going to a dealer this may reset the poss ecu fault
easy check system without a laptop ?? as long as you have a digital trip
before you start your car press and hold the trip reset button turn the key to start your car and keep the button pressed within 10 seconds the clock will show 0000 when this appears each time you press the trip button it will self test differant systems full dash clock sweep all warning lights engine rpm alternator charge engine core temp fuel flow and will list fault codes which can be checked on this site atleast it will save you afew quid/euros dollers on ford checking it for you and you will know what if anything needs doing i hope this helps
I had the same thing in my 2002 ford focus about 8 months ago. under acceleration it would wrap out on the speedo and tach, and then go back to the true levels a couple seconds later. this happened probably two dozen times. next it began to have a hard time starting, even with a jump. ended up being my alternator was bad, i replaced that one part and it hasnt done it any more.
2002 ford focus, I'll be going down the hwy at 70 then the speedometer drops to 0 then right back to 70.then the other morning I was leaving to work the car acted as if the battery was dead, tried to jump start it click, click nothing, locked the keys in the car and the locksmith came and unlocked it and it started right up.then on the way to work the speedometer dropped to 0 and stayed down for about a minute and the tripometer also went blank! HELP.
