My 1998 gmc suburbans driver side trunk (back) door handle has come apart. It seems that I am missing a part. Are there diagrams of the inside door assembly? If I could look at one in its complete form, then I can fix it. It doesn't open, it has come attached from the mechanism inside.

GMC dealers have book or microfilm IPB, illustrated parts breakdown, on everything they sell. Go to a dealer's parts department and nicely ask them to show you the IPB on that door. It may take a few minutes to find a 12 year old car IPB and there may be paying customers who get waited on first but if you are patient and courteous eventually they can help you. Most will even print you out a page, then you will know all the parts, their numbers, how they go together, whether or not that old part can still be had through GM, and about how long it takes a GM tech to replace that part.

This works on about all cars where you can still find a dealer. Also if you have 3 dollars you can buy these IPBs on CD for many cars over on eBay.

Driver side door is jamed shut. ouside door handle and inside door handle broke. can't open door. how do i get the door open or can you take inside driver side door panel off with door closed?

i don't know about taking the panel off with the door closed, but you should be able to remove the inside handle. there should be just one screw holding it in it should be right in the middle usually it is covered with a plastic cap. once you get the handle off manually pull the mechanism and open the door.

How do i replace the door handle on a 1998 gmc suburban

remove the inside door trim to gain access to the inside of the door, there may be plastic covering the large openings in the back of the door panel, you have to remove that as well to gain access to the rear of the door handle.
there will be a couple of nuts or bolts that you have to remove and also a metal rod which connects to the handle, once these are removed you should be able to remove the handle from the door

Driver side handle replacement

in most vehicles, replacing the handle entails removing the inside of the door to access the mechanisms inside. there usually isn't a way around this. a repair manual can assist with directions on how to go about doing this type of project.

1986 gmc suburban door panel removal

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

99 gmc suburban driver side door will not open from inside

My son and I both have 99 suburbans. We both had exactly the same issue. We found the the latch or handle inside the cab on the drivers side had broken off inside the door. Not a big deal. Go to a site called " Parts Train". You can buy virtually any part for your truck there. Get a new inside door handle, pull the panel and replace it. Not an easy job to getting door panel off or back on, but I guarantee this is the problem. You won't have a problem with the passenger side because it is used less. At Parts Train make sure you order the same color as your old one. Take your time and do a good job and you will have your fix.

Drivers side door, not opening

VERY common issue.. the handle being replaced is ok.. but the actual metal rod that connects it to the latch needs bent a little to make it more responsive, what happens is over time this rod (which is bent slightly) will straighten, and the operator pulls harder on the handle which eventually brakes.. then replacing the handle will solve it for a while, until the trend repeats itself... VERY common, I have fixed hundreds in the shop so far...
