Tranny or axle problem or what could be wrong?

Have tranny rebuilt. Sounds like it gummed up.

your starter is grounded, have it tested and replaced/rebuilt if not good

try a tranny flush and clean the gauze filter in the oil pick up ,then sell it quick ,its on the way out thats for sure

yes it is there is a problem with the transmossion check the fluid level and if not that check the solonoid sensors on the tranny and if not these maybe the tranny may need rebuilt

The transmission range sensor aka neutral safety switch is located underneath the air filter on top of the transaxle and very easy to access. Replace this part (around $50) and it will solve your problem.
What happens is this, when your tranny warms up, it disperses heat to the sensor switch and if its faulty or worn out, will send faulty relays to the transmissiom computer module (TCM) and makes the transmission shift irratically (OD to 3rd and back while driving at freeway speeds). You tranny is not overheating like most people believe, its the switch. Mechanics are telling alot of people that their tranny needs replaced. Watch Out For These People!! They only want your money!!

First put a jackstand under the car have it jacked up fairly high where you can get under it easily then take a really strong regular screw driver or a small pry bar slide up between tranny and the axle piece you are trying to get out and tap with your hand or a rubber mallet the bottom of the pry bar or the handle of the screw driver towards the opposite side of the car of what you are working on.

The automatic transmission filter is located inside the transmission pan.

well turn the wheel to the right or left and look at the boots on the cv shafts if the are torn open the shaft will need to be replaced.
