the click you're likely hearing is the starter engaging but not cranking. it seems like you need to have the starter looked at

You had a lack of fuel pressure so it did not start. When a fuel pump is worn, sometimes it will not work because the brushes will not ground completing the circuit, By spraying into the throttle body and starting the engine, the pump rotated and the connection was again complete and you had fuel pressure. It will probably happen again.

Take to a garage to lift it up and have a better view on what is leaking. An old gasket may still be on the oil filter base.
