Depends on what is happening when you try to start it. If the engine will not turn over, the problem will probably be in the power feed to the starting motor (e.g. blown fuse, fusible link or starting motor solenoid) - easy to check with a multimeter. It could be the security system - I would check for trouble codes with a code reader.

Hi. Get a can of DW40. Spray it all over the cap and inside where the key goes, leave for 10 or 15 mins and then try and open it. Good luck.

Spark plugs may be out of gap also if you have a distr9cap and rotor they are worn and to much gap is present and it can't make contact at higher rpm's and the engine load this is most likely tune up issues and throttle body cleaning needed with fuel injection cleaner

Messages on dashboard should provide a clue what is going on and the things to check first - this should be verified with electronic diagnostic equipment. If no physical evidence of faults is found on inspection it could be worth suspecting a partly blocked CAT.

The colour smoke an engine produces gives a good idea of the fault: - Black/dark grey smoke is partially burned fuel caused by the right amount of fuel being injected badly or by a small excess of fuel. Blue/blue-grey smoke is burning engine oil. White smoke is either steam (usually from coolant ingress) or massive amounts of unburned fuel. A few possible causes of the latter is strangled exhaust, one or more injectors stuck open or a damaged injector (broken nozzle). If there is no coolant loss I suggest you remove the fuel injectors for testing.
