Renault Cars & Trucks - Popular Questions, Answers, Tips & Manuals

Messages on dashboard should provide a clue what is going on and the things to check first - this should be verified with electronic diagnostic equipment.
If no physical evidence of faults is found on inspection it could be worth suspecting a partly blocked CAT.

P1822 code can be about replacing a broken oxygen sensor can eventually lead to a busted catalytic convertor which can cost upwards of $2,000. Taking your car into a shop will cost you around $200 depending on the car. However, an oxygen sensor is easy to replace on many cars and is usually detailed in the owner's manual. If you know where the sensor is, you only have to unclip the old sensor and replace it with a new one. Regardless of how you approach it, you should get this fixed right away.

The colour smoke an engine produces gives a good idea of the fault: -
Black/dark grey smoke is partially burned fuel caused by the right amount of fuel being injected badly or by a small excess of fuel.

Blue/blue-grey smoke is burning engine oil.

White smoke is either steam (usually from coolant ingress) or massive amounts of unburned fuel. A few possible causes of the latter is strangled exhaust, one or more injectors stuck open or a damaged injector (broken nozzle).

If there is no coolant loss I suggest you remove the fuel injectors for testing.

Here is a link you can check out. Just so you know, MOST manufacturers don't give away their repair manuals. I did not follow this link all the way through but you should be able to get it at a lower cost.

Firstly the modern car radio is generally integrated into the vehicle security system and when powered up must recognise the vehicle VIN number programmed into the vehicle security system. Lots of such radios no longer use a security code as it is deemed no longer necessary.

Where a 3 or 4 digit security code is used the radio records the number of attempts to enter the code and each subsequent attempt causes an increasingly long pause before another attempt can be made so that the ninth attempt can mean leaving the radio switched on for several hours before the dashes reappear and then if the tenth attempt fails the radio is permanently locked and effectively scrap as dealer expertise is expensive.
Not only must the correct code be entered, it must be entered in the correct way so it is always best to refer to the vehicle audio manual.

The only time I have ever seen ERROR on a radio it was an example of a permanently locked unit...
I might be wrong so again it is best to refer to the audio manual.
