Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Cavalier

LEARN HOW TO SAVE GAS AND MONEY

With the price of gas going up and the economy still in slight recession, we all are looking for ways to save a little money. There are many of us that depend on a vehicle to get us to work, for shopping, vacations, and all the little things in between. There are a few things you can do that will save you time, money, and gas. First, we will look at tires. You want to keep your tires in the best shape possible and keep them inflated correctly. Make sure all your tires have equal air. Also, you want to make sure your vehicle is alligned correct as well. If your vehicle surges right or left, it may be out of balance. If the air pressure is correct all the way around, you might need an allignment. The size of the tire matters also. If you have big tires, the vehicle is going to use more fuel. You might want to consider getting a smaller tire size to save gas. You want your vehicle to run at its best. A simple tune up can save you gas too. If you haven't had one in a long time and you are no longer getting the fuel results you once had, get it done. You need to change your spark plugs, wires, coil packs, coils, and distributor cap. Not only will your vehicle run better, you should save a few more miles per gallon also. There are many of us that use the freeway for commute as well. Using cruise control on the freeway can save you gas also. Anytime you can use it, do so. If you are heavy on the pedal, chances are, your using extra fuel. If you can keep your speed steady during excelleration, you can save fuel. Also, try not to let the car sit still and idle. You use more fuel doing this. You can try to brake earlier to avoid sitting still and idling. You can also use fuel cleaner to clean out the fuel system, which will help with gas mileage. You are not going to see major results, but it will help. There are many shops that offer this kind of service too. Remember, the faster you go, the more fuel you will use. By doing all the little things, you can save gas and money everytime you fill up. In the long run, it can save you hundreds of dollars. Thank you for taking time out to read this and I hope this has helped you. As always, thank you so much for choosing FixYa and have a great day.

Your talking about a gas leak here. you can fix it yourself but the safest way is yes the dredful auto mechanic. save up some money and get an estimate.. most of these problems are easy fixes if you just examine it a little closer. lets say your in the middle of no place and this happens. your the only one to fix it or your stuck there forever. examine it. be real about this and say can I fix this? if your not sure or don`t want to mess with it, auto repair shop time. better safe then sorry when it comes to gas brother it isn`t worth it. moneys tight? save and do it. don`t mess with gas and electric they don`t miss and have a dangerous way of letting you know that at a very expensive price.

Everyone has their ideas about saving oil, here I would like share mine.
1.Reprogram your ECU
There is nothing you can do about the increasing oil prices, but you can take control over how much gas the vehicles use by reprogramming the ECU chip. Statistics show that with ECU chip tuning tool, fuel economy is improved more than 20 percent. In addition, it will also improve the power of your vehicle up to 35% at the same time. An ECU chip programmer
2.Clean your engine
It is important to keep your engine and compartment clean, as a clean engine helps the engine run cooler, which will help reduce oil usage in return. Besides, engine cleaning also makes you spot signs of trouble before they get out of hand and become a more expensive repair.
3.Turn down your thermostat
It is important to ensure that the thermostat in your car is not set too high and that it is accurate. It has been proved that accurate system controls can save money by reducing heat wastage.

how do I improve my fuel economy in my 1997 Hyundai Sonata GLS?

Here are some tips on how to improve your fuel economy:
- Going fast is so tempting. Not only do we do it to keep up with the flow of traffic, but if we can save even five minutes, it seems worth it. But if you're on the highway, driving 60 miles per hour instead of 70 mph will save you 2-4 miles per gallon over the duration of your trip.
- Take it easy on the throttle. Don't accelerate quickly or stomp on the brakes. Coast to a stop. You'll save on fuel as well as wear and tear on your brakes, which will save you even more money.
- Shut down. If you're waiting somewhere for a while, like at a train crossing for instance, turn off your engine. Even if it's just for a minute, it can make a difference in your fuel economy, especially if you drive in the city a lot.
- Don't warm up your vehicle for more than 30 seconds. This is a tough one, especially for us here at Consumer GuideĀ®, where Chicago's frigid winters are a way of life. Thanks to technology, however, most modern fuel-injected cars only really need 30 seconds to warm, and hot air can start blasting into the cabin very shortly thereafter.
- Windows up. Again, this is tough, especially on pleasant days. But having the windows down creates aerodynamic drag that causes an engine to work harder. On the highway, this can decrease fuel economy by up to 10 percent.
- Check your tire pressure. Making sure your vehicle's tires are set to the recommended pressure can increase fuel economy by as much as 3.3 percent.
- Breathe easy. Next time you get your oil changed, have the air filter checked as well. Replacing a dirty air filter with a clean one can save up to 10 percent on fuel costs.
- Make sure your vehicle is in top running order. Read your owner's manual and follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. If it's time for a tune up, do it and you can realize up to a 4.1 percent increase in fuel economy.
- Buy the right gas. Your owner's manual will list the correct octane gasoline you should use for your vehicle. Purchase whatever is recommended and no more. Premium-grade fuel is more costly and won't improve economy in vehicles designed to run on regular.
- Lighten up. The less weight in your vehicle, the better your fuel economy. Clean out that trunk!
- Grease up. Using the manufacturer's specified motor oil, and changing it per factory recommendations, can improve fuel economy as well.
- Combine trips. Don't run out two or three times a day. Hit all the stores you need to visit at once, and if possible, go to shopping malls where you can park and walk to several stores at the same time.
- Cool down. Gas up on cool mornings. Fuel is denser when cold. Gas pumps measure by volume, so if you pump when it's cold, you get more gas for your buck.
