Tip & How-To about Toyota Corolla

How to Change a Headlight Bulb on a Toyota

Replacing a headlight bulb is the most basic thing that you can do for your own car. Anyhow, if you have never changed a headlight bulb in your life, you may be a little bit lost at what to do with it. Replacing the faulty headlight bulbs on a very famous Toyota car is not difficult. Before you can replace one out, you need to have the bulb. It is best to go out in the sunshine when you do not need your car's headlights to pick one up. You need to know the maker and the model of your vehicle. For example, if you are having a 2001 Toyota Corolla, then you will need to look for that. At almost all auto stores, they will have books and photo albums by the headlight bulb so you can look up the right bulb that you need for your type of vehicle. After finding the exact bulb what you need, then you should get it. Now we can move towards the installation of your car's new headlight bulb!

Installation Of Your Car's New Headlight Bulb

You need to pop open the hood of your car and this is the first most things that you need to do. You can use a torch light to find the back of car's headlight. This is very easy to find, because they are on the back side of where they are located on the front of your vehicle. At this point of time, you need to observe, or you will observe that some Toyota made vehicles have a protecting cover of the back of their headlight unit. This is what requires a screwdriver to remove it. Just find all of the screws on the back plate, and then remove them all in order to reach the headlight bulb. After removing the screws, you should be able to take off the back plate easily. On some models of the cars you will observe that after taking off the back plate, here you can see many wires that are corked up in by plastic clips. At this moment, you will need to remove that plastic clip away and push all of the wires out of your way. You do not want to deal with any of that. As soon as you move all the wires, the dead headlight bulb will be seen.

Removing your car's headlight bulb is as easy as taking a bulb out of a lamp. You can easily remove it by squeezing it to the left side. Now take your new bulb and put this bulb in and move it to the right side to lock it. It is a good idea to test the headlight at this point to make sure that it is working right before you put everything back together. Turn on the ignition switch of your car and turn the lights on. Now come out from your car to make it sure that the light are on. After ensuring that the lights are on and fixed properly, put the plastic clip back on wiring and put the back plate back onto its place. Make it sure that you insert all of the screws. Make sure that you picked all of your tools before closing the hood of your car, and here you have completed your changing headlight bulb task!

2011 Avalon. how can I replace the right front headlight?

Do you want to change the bulb or the entire head light fitting? To change the whole headlight unit you will need to remove the entire front bumper, (fender), to get access to the lower mounting bolts of the headlight. A simple but very time consuming job removing 10mm bolts and plastic push clips. *Note* The video I've attached is for the Camry but the basic method is the same.

Like most modern cars the bulbs are in a very tight space so you'll probably lose some skin off your knuckles. The bulb is removed from the back by twisting the rear cover off then twisting the inner connector off to get access to the actual bulb. The bulb is held in place by a 'U' shaped spring clip you squeeze to release the clip. The bulb should slide out. **Caution** DO NOT touch the glass part of the bulb when fitting the new one. These bulbs generate a Lot of heat when working. The Natural oils in your skin can create a 'Hot Spot' on the bulb causing it to burn out, 'Pop' and need replacing again. Try this video clip..

low beam lights not working the other lights do. want to replace the headlight relay

First check that your headlights are not burned out. You may have been running on one bulb for a while then it feels like the switch or relay died when it was only the other bulb burning out.

it is fairly cheap fix. If the bulbs are old anyhow (more than 7 years), it is worth replacing them because they are fairly dim compared to new ones.

Good luck.

my car 2003 altima I need change light bulb. need know how to remove head light to change the bulb.

You don't have to remove the headlight to change the bulb. The bulb can be removed from the back of the headlight, usually by turning the bezel ring that holds the bulb onto the headlight housing. Just make sure you do not touch the glass part of the bulb while replacing it or it will burn out again fast.

how to change headlights on 2004 ram1500

If you are replacing the headlight bulbs, rotate the bulb retaining lock ring counter-clockwise, pull retainer out of headlight housing and disconnect electrical connector. On the drivers side, you have to remove the fuse and relay box screws and move the box to the side to access the headlight bulb. If you are replacing the headlight housings, there is a push pin and 2 screws on the inside, behind the hood and one screw on the outside at the bottom. Remove these and pull the housing out enough to remove the bulb retainers.
