Tip & How-To about Hyundai Accent

Fuel problem 2000 Hyundai Accent

Not long ago my wife Accent stopped running. I figured out it was a fuel pump problem. So I took the back seat out,(you dont have to drop the tank), and removed the fuel pump. After installing a new fuel pump the Accent still did not run. The fuel pump wasnt charging when the key was turned on. Well I figured out the little 2-3 inch jumper wire (has a plug on both ends with 2 wires in between) goes bad, kind of like a fusable link. So I got that wire and replaced it and problem solved. Now I have a spare fuel pump (the one I replaced).

Car Wont start

check your fuel pump. have some lay on the ground by the fuel tank. Turn the key on but dont try to start. There will be a 1-2 sec. hum from the fuel tank. If nothing is heard then the pump is bad. the only way to change the pump isto remove the gas tank.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2004 hyundai accent

The fuel filter on a 2005 Hyundai Accent depending on where it was manufactured and when, is possibly external and on the outside of the fuel tank directly above the fuel pump and accessible by removing the back seat. Or it is actually inside the fuel tank and requires removing the back seat, the metal panel, the fuel pump itself and then accessing the filter. Your vin. no. can determine which model you have and of course how much work you'll have to do

2004 Hyundai Accent

It's a bad fuel sending unit - it has nothing more than coincidence in common with the timing of your emissions test. You'll have to remove the sender from the tank to replace it. Some cars require dropping the fuel tank, but others have an access port in the trunk or under the rear seat cushion. Replace the sender and you'll be back up and running correctly.
