Tip & How-To about Ford Mustang

Leak in radiator

This applies to all vehicles that have radiators. If you're overheated open the bonnet and let it cool until no steam is detected, then open the cap on the top. If you need a temporary solution to a leaky radiator out on the road, pour some pepper into the water, while the water is still warm. start the car and fill the radiator and cap it firmly closed. The pepper will find the leak and plug it. Then get it serviced. If you leave it, eventually the plugged hole will reopen. This will have a small effect on the ability of the radiator to cool the engine but not much. If there are several leaks, call a tow truck.

Mitsubishi shogun 1998 model 2.8 over heating no leeks water is blowing back into the overflow bottle when hot

How are you sure it is overheating? Temp gauge? Most likely are stuck thermostat, bad fan thermostat switch, bad fan. bad head gasket. Coolant going into overflow when hot is how that system is suppose to work. As it cools, fluid is drawn back into radiator. It it is not really overheating, bad radiator cap can allow coolant into reservoir more than normal.

radiator overflow steaming when driving 15 to 20 mile distance, don't have a manual to see if there is another location to put in radiator fluid or water, temp is normal, and nothing seems to be leaking, thinking might be the cap?

Yes, the cap could be it. But, I would also check the strength and concentration of the antifreeze/coolant to make sure it's 50/50.

Also, check that the fan is coming on for the radiator, even though it may seem to not be overheating.

Good luck on this repair.

1996 Acura 3.2TL Overheating Problem...

From your description of symtoms it sounds like you have a bad water pump. If the coolant is not circulating properly you will have a heating problem. Sometimes even a new thermostat can stick and cause the engine to overheat. I have seen them fail in as little as a week after they were installed.
