Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Cavalier

Wiring Your Own Amp

FIRST RULE NEVER HOOK UP THE POWER WIRE WHILE INSTALLING!When installing and you buy an amp wiring kit, its a lot easier to have to fuse in the truck by the amplifier and not closer to the battery! Also it is better protected from corrosion! Its best to either drill a hole in the firewall or to poke a hole in the main wiring harness going into the passenger compartment. For added protection of the wire and makes the job look like a professional did it!When finding a good ground the best (is to have a equal to or thicker wire than the power for heat dissipation of the amplifier and to protect the amplifier) is to run another wire back to the negative post on the battery. On the way back don't forget to have the remote wire connected to your after market c/d player. Most people use the provided ground wire in the amp kit which is approx. 3 ft long, if you are mounting the amp on the box it may be difficult to reach the chassis (the next best ground) so they use the body (which is an ok ground only when the connection is metal on metal not the metal on the interior body paint!) If you need any help at all send me an [email protected] doing installation for 6 years and have worked on a lot of interesting projectsThis site located below will show you the proper way to wire the subs you may have purchased (2ohm or 4ohm, Dual Voice Coil "DVC" and Single Voice Coil "SVC") with the amp you have, such as Mono block; 2 and 4 channel amps. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-UOvhN9EMHss/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html

I need to know what is the color of the remote wire on a 07 doge ram slt quad cab 4x2

The amp remote is actually run by the computer bus line. This is a twisted pair of wires that allow computers to talk back and forth.. therefore it does not have a remote wire. Best bet is to run amp on a switch or a keyed power wire for remote turn on. Also if u plan on changing stereo u will need to buy a interface kit or truck may not even run

how do install car stereo system

if you are are talking about an amp and subs simply get an amp istalation kit take the big red wire and hook it to your battery with the fuse that should be in the kit, thats going to go into the b+ on the amp take the black wire and find somewere near your amp with a bolt going into the car seat bolts work the best, this is for your ground. the little blue wire goes from the back of the radio at the remote wire to the rem inlet on your amp.i always put mine on a toggle switch so if you dont want it on you can just flip it off.To do this just simply run a 12 power wire into the switch and your remote wire coming out of the switch. Finally hook your spearkers into the amp red is posotive black is negative.thats all there is to an audio system.

installing stereo had to put a wiring harness wired it all up red 12volt wire comes separete needs to hook up to ignition i do not know where it goes

Use a 12 volt test light & probe wires in harness from original connection, on feed side .Find a wire that only has power when you turn the key on. That's the one you'll connect that wire to.

06 cobalt stock system hook up

I cant really assist in this matter but I can let you know that I have a system in my 2006 Chevy Cobalt and that I have an aftermarket cd player installed. I had to pay $130 for a special adapter for it to be wired into the system because GM's newest idea of installing the stereo and airbags on the same wire scheme, is kind of a dumb idea.
