Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Cavalier
FIRST RULE NEVER HOOK UP THE POWER WIRE WHILE INSTALLING!When installing and you buy an amp wiring kit, its a lot easier to have to fuse in the truck by the amplifier and not closer to the battery! Also it is better protected from corrosion! Its best to either drill a hole in the firewall or to poke a hole in the main wiring harness going into the passenger compartment. For added protection of the wire and makes the job look like a professional did it!When finding a good ground the best (is to have a equal to or thicker wire than the power for heat dissipation of the amplifier and to protect the amplifier) is to run another wire back to the negative post on the battery. On the way back don't forget to have the remote wire connected to your after market c/d player. Most people use the provided ground wire in the amp kit which is approx. 3 ft long, if you are mounting the amp on the box it may be difficult to reach the chassis (the next best ground) so they use the body (which is an ok ground only when the connection is metal on metal not the metal on the interior body paint!) If you need any help at all send me an [email protected] doing installation for 6 years and have worked on a lot of interesting projectsThis site located below will show you the proper way to wire the subs you may have purchased (2ohm or 4ohm, Dual Voice Coil "DVC" and Single Voice Coil "SVC") with the amp you have, such as Mono block; 2 and 4 channel amps. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-UOvhN9EMHss/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
