Car wont start replaced alternator

Use a ohm meter set to 12v DC touch batter red on red and black on black or black grounded anywhere it should read 13 to 16 v with cat running auto zone or any local parts store can check it free on the car

an easy way to fInd out how to fIx thIs Is one. wIl tue vehIcle start at all? If It wIll than start the car and carefully take the posItIve cable off the battery and see If the vehIcle dIes. If It does than you need to replace the alternator because the transformer In the alternator Is out. If the vehIcle does not start all the fuse may be In two places. check the fuse In the car at the fuse panel and or the fuse box under the hood.

If the POSITIVE battery cable is going to ground you will be seeing lots of smoke and fire. Your truck will be burning and you will need to call the fire department, not a mechanic. Take your vehicle to a qualified service technician and have it tested for an "Ignition Off Draw."

look for corrosion in the cables, a bad/split cable end, and maybe have the alternator tested

.I spent a lot of time and head scratching over the exact same problem ...YOU NEED A NEW REGULATOR (it is in the alternator).repair options are ;replace voltage regulator only , rebuild complete alternator , replace alternator with a rebuilt one , or replace alternator with a new one
The clue was getting diff. readings on your volt meter ....mine would spike up to 18 volts but you have to put your volt meter on and get yourself a cup of coffee (or a beer) and stare at your meter for atleast 15 minuits after the engine is heated up ....
