Tip & How-To about Jaguar XJ8
Replace the valve cover gasket if the valve cover gaskets are
leaking or if they're worn. The procedure is as follows:--
1)First carefully remove the nuts
holding the valve cover to the engine head.2
2)Then pull the
valve cover off from the engine head .
3)You can use flat-tip screwdriver to remove the valve cover.
4)It will be very dirty inside so you
will have to clean the mating surfaces on both the engine head and the valve
cover.
5)Take your time and clean it completely.
6)You can use a bead of RTV
sealant on both mating surfaces.
7)Then carefully seat the gasket to top of the engine head.
8)The gasket can only be fitted in one way. So fit it properely.
9)Then tightly Press the valve cover
to the gasket
10)And tighten the valve cover nuts
secure.
This will help.Good Luck.
