i think you meant Ignition switch.

the latter has air bags, and BOOM are very very dangerous.

i look at lock removal.
7 steps, you are stuck at step 2
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column lower cover. Disconnect the ignition switch wire connector from the dash fuse box.
  3. Insert the key and place on the 0 position.
  4. Remove the 2 screws and replace the base of the switch.

  1. To remove the lock, remove the steering wheel and the steering column covers.
  2. Center punch each of the shear bolts and drill their heads off with a 3/16 in. drill bit. Be careful not to damage the switch body when removing the shear head.
  3. Remove the shear bolts from the switch body.
end remove.

removing and replacing the ignition switch

You will need the following tools:

Steering wheel puller Torx bits (get a set, you need 3 sizes) Inverted Torx ( a set is available at Schucks/Kragen/Checker Screwdriver A few zip ties Wire cutters

Start by disconnecting the yellow wire under the dash for the airbag. Now turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to access the underside of the steering wheel. You will have to insert a smaller size flat blade screw driver into the 4 holes on the back of the steering wheel and rotate them to release the airbag. Now remove the nut holding the steering wheel on and remove the steering wheel. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE AIRBAG MODULE!! Now remove the lower column cover with 2 Torx screws. You will now have access to 2 inverted Torx screws that hold the top column cover in place. Look on the top of the ignition cylinder housing and find the small hole. Insert a small Allen wrench into the hole and turn the key to "run" position and the ignition cylinder will come out, now the top cover will come off, giving access to the ignition switch. You will need the smallest inverted Torx bit for the 2 screws that hold the ignition switch in. You will have to cut a couple of zip ties to free the wiring. Now get a Torx bit and a 7mm socket and remove the lower dash panels to get access to the wiring harness. You will need the 7mm to unscrew a bolt that holds the connector together under the dash. Just follow the wiring to see what I mean. Once the connector is loose, you will see two plastic strips that run along side the connector. These are easy to remove and slide off, and are keyed so you cannot reinstall them wrong. Hope this helps.

I was getting frustrated trying to get the air bag off the wheel to do a column change out to a tilt wheel. The above worked perfectly for removing the airbag. However, the inverted torx bits can be removed with a good 6 point socket on a 1/4 inch drive ratchet as well. No need to buy a special tool.

Good luck

Remove interior door panel on 2003 BMW 330I. The window is binding. Trying to get panel off so I can see what it is.

I am assuming that you have a 4 door sedan. If you want to remove the front door panel, it is held on with 4 or 5 torx screws, Under the armrest you will see 2 plastic cap covers. Gently pry the covers loose and the screws are inside. T20 I think. Where the inside release handle is you probably have a decorative strip(wood grain or painted plastic). At the end farthest from the handle, use a plastic wedge, or flat popsicle stick to pry the corner loose and gently pull the strip toward you. There will be 2 more screws under it. If your door has a plastic airbag emblem there is a screw under it. Otherwise there should be 1 screw hiding under the mirror switc on the armrest, or mirror switch cover. Using a small flat edge wedge pry between the panel and body at bottem until the panel pops loose.work your way around the entire panel. The top panel near the glass pulls toward you. Once the entire panel is loose, grabbing the armrest, pull the panel straight upwards. Be careful when pulling up as to not pull too far. Your inner release cable is attached on the backside. When reinstalling the panel make sure that the rubber grommets are on the panel clips..they help keep water out.

Sun visor on 2005 Nissan Murano won't stay up/falls down

go to a dealership with a screwdriver and your broken sun visor in hand. take out a nissan murano with an interior that matches yours for a test drive and perform a switch on the sun visors. install your broken visor in place of the one that works, and take the one that works out of the car that your test driving.

Problem solved, its free, and you didn't have to get creative to fix the problem. Plus, they can't blame you for a broken visor considering that they fail in these cars all the time. You're welcome!!!
