How to stop stalling @ idle on ALL GM V8s

remove air cleaner and remove throttle body unit becareful dont get carburetor or throttle body cleaner on any plastic or rubber parts or any electrical parts,take carburetor cleaner with engine off spray cleaner inside throttle bore and around throttle plate you can use old tooth brush help scrub carbon build inside throttle bore use tooth brush scrub clean around throttle plate spray cleaner inside bore remove all carbon build up use paper towel to help aid in drying out inside.make sure wear safety glasses dont get any cleaner in your eyes.

Two things you can do ; add sea foam as per directions on bottle too your fuel system; 2 Get spray engine cleaner from your local parts store, grab an old tooth brush and remove the rubber tube were it enters your engine. manually open your throttle plate with a screwdriver (carfully it opens in one direction only.) spray a little amount of cleaner in the throwt scrub with tooth brush, wipe clean and repeat until all the garbage is off of the plate and throttle bore. leave no trace off cleaner or it will cause th throttle blade to stick. then replace all removed equipment start it up and rev. it a couple times to clear cleaner out of engine, then go dog it a couple times on the hwy. this is an approved method from GM. it really works just ask around to other GM owners. One other thing if it startes and stalls after this, you must relearn idle by starting let stall, turn key off wait ten seconds and start it again. repeate until it idles properly.

TO clean the throtle plate use a small tooth brush and some throtle body cleaner. remove the intake hose, spray the throtlebody and then open the throtle plate and spray plate , use brush to clean body and plate then spray clean try not to spray to much into engine , after its clean then start the engine you may have to hold gas pedal down to start as it going to be a little load up with fuel from the cleaner, some time sit will start up on its on and run a little rough for a few seconds and clear up. As far as the mass sensor this needs to be cleaned with mass air flow cleaner, this is a spray like the throtle spray but is made for that sensor and drys fast, spray the two sensors inside but dont touch them or move them spray as close to them as you can to clean them, good luck.

The throttle-body (or throttle plate inside the throttle-body) is probably gunked-up with carbon deposits and needs a good cleaning.

Take the air snorkel off of the throttle body and look inside while holding the throttle plate open. If you have thick black deposits on the back side of the throttle plate, you can clean it by spraying some throttle body cleaner (Available at any parts store) onto a rag and using an old tooth brush to push the rag, clean all the black gunk out of the area.

I recommend an old tooth brush because using something hard like a screwdriver can scratch the inside of the aluminum throttle body and actually make the throttle stick worse. I don't recommend spraying the throttle body cleaner directly into the throttle body because it can end up in the air plenum where it may loosen some deposits that can cause severe engine damage.

you need to clean the throtle body and the idle air control motor .clean it with throtle body cleaner and an old tooth brush take off the tube to your throtle plate assembly open it up by hand spray cleaner brush with tooth brush wipe out with clean rag install tube make sure all your sensor are pluged in start the car let it run till it clears out . if that dont fix it install a new idle air control. let me know how you come out
