I have a 1998 Plymouth Voyager. It has an automatic transmission. It will go forward ok, but when I try to backup the transmission squeals like its slipping and the van won’t move. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The reverse plates in the transmission are burned up. There's a coating on the plates that cause them to catch on each other and the gears to function correctly. In your case for some reason the coating has come off and the plates are slipping causing the squeal.

98 PLYMOUTH VOYAGER 3.3 MPI ENGINE DIED AT 60 MPH

I would start by checking fuel pressure to the fuel rail. Just because the pump is running, does not mean that it has enough pressure to fire the injectors. You should have over 40# at the rail.

I replaced the transmission conrtrol module wihtout disconnecting the battery did i ruin the new module

Putting the old module in can help figure it out. However, most modules are fairly sturdy... It would take a good shock to the system to damage it. It is ideally best to disconnect the battery, but many times it's a safety procaution to avoid accidental engine start ups while working on the vehicle (especially with auto start remotes being accidentally pushed)
