I have an uneven idleing problem in my 1993
MAKE SURE THE MAF plug is properly connected at the air filter housing- then check the idle air control motor assy. on the throttle body.Then remove and clean your dirty EGR valve- which is stuck open and allowing EGR at idle...which is not supposed to happen...
Would a bad ecm kill an alternator?
Not likely
Do you not ask these questions over
the years, at the shops you go to?
They have the answers or the car has other issues
& the parts they are using aren't good quality

You have a bad ignition power transistor ( this does roughly the same function as an ignition module) or a bad ignition coil. I would bet on a bad transistor....

when you turn on the AC- the idle evens out because the ecm instructs the Idle air motor to increase the airflow into the throttle body to maintain idle speed under the increased engine load. The idle air motor is defective on your car- it does the same function as a valve but is actually a small motor...

1992 Plymouth Colt Vista AWD Automatic
make sure all the electrical connectors to the trans are properly connected. One of these plugs is for the shift control solenoids- not properly connected = no shifting. This happened during the repair operation which is why the car worked fine before the water pump was replaced.
