My Camry feel like it's downshifting when I take my foot off the accelerator. It also goes into overdrive, as if I'm pushing the accelerator to the floor, when using cruise control and going uphill.
All Toyota auto trans cars downshift when descending a hill when you tap the brake. This is called "Downhill Shift Logic"; what this is for is to eliminate the double shift when you come to the bottom of a hill and then accelerate. Normal condition. Usually happens above 38 MPH.
Also: The cruise will accelerate when going uphill. Normal condition.Plus: The cruise will not disengage back to the set MPH after you top the hill. Toyota recommends to disengage the cruise when encountering steep terrain.

The electric went out on my 2008 Camry (might be the battery - don't know yet) so I was going to use the manual key for the first time. It would NOT unlock the door or the trunk. Then I tried the "spare" manual key...same thing. It fits the lock and turns BUT the door/trunk won't open. Later in the day I tried again and was able to open the door but not the trunk. The spare key still won't open neither. Did the dealer give me the wrong key to the car??? I will be having my car towed tomorrow to see what the problem is with the electric or battery but if anyone knows anything about the key thing, can you please tell me? Is there a "trick" to using this key?
If not the wrong key, maybe the locks are seized from not being used. Over time with humidity, and lubricants drying up inside of the mechanics of the locks they could seize. When inserting the key the pins are not properly moving in to place to allow the tumbler assembly to turn.
Try using some silicon lubrication. Spray in to the lock. Work the key in and out of the lock a few dozen times before attempting to turn. Then spray in some graphite lock lubricant. Insert the key in and out a number of times. Then tap on the key end with something hard like a pliers or something not to heavy or forceful. Then try turning the key. Jiggle it a bit and moving it in and out. Eventually the pins should normally release and position themselves.
If all of the above does not work, then you will need to get a lock smith to assist. Most likely he will be able to get in to the vehicle so he can remove the locks to service them.

My center console auxillary box has a card (the size of a credit card) that got stuck when I tried to place it in the box and the lid will only paritally open - is there a diagram somewhere to see how to get that lid off or do you have any suggestions - we can't open it to see how the lid is attached. Thanks.
Mine did that. Just pull up on the whole center console. It unsnaps and opens up so you can move whatever is blocking the door out of the way. I have a credit card stuck but a least it is in the center and my door works

how to remove rear seat of 2009 camry
Rear seat in my camrey is clipped in, if it is the same, just grab the front corner of the seat about 12 to 15 inches from the end and yank it up on either side.

maintenance required light on 2008 camry, why is it on?
Hello. Welcome to FIxYa. Please allow us to assist you
The maintenance required light is there to remind you that your oil change is due. This light needs to be reset after the oil ic changed, it is manually reset. If you just had your oil changed, the light will not go off by itself. The light is designed to illuminate after 5,000 miles since the last reset procedure.

does my 2008 toyota camry have a dip stick for the transmission fluid to check my oil
Toyota has used a sealed transmission for a few years which has no dipstick, look under the hood if it has a dipstick it will be at the front near the radiator and have a red handle on it, if not it uses the sealed transmission which uses WS(world standard) transmission fluid which according to toyota does not need servicing although most dealers recommend changing the fluid at about 100,000 miles.

the dashboard lights work when the headlights are OFF but not when they are turned on
I know sounds simple but look to the left of the steering column for a rotary swith that goes up and down. This is the dimmer switch that can completely turn down or off what lights are on your display. Forgive me if this is not the case.
