Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you. The Check Engine light comes on for many, many different reasons. The most common reason is the gas cap being loose. I would check the cap for being loose. If it is loose, drive the car for 10-15 miles to see if the light goes out. If the cap is not loose, you should go and take the car to someplace that can scan the car's computer to get the codes, the reason for the light being on. Autozone stores do this for free. Get us the codes, and then we can isolate your problem better.

Hello, check the fuse marked "gauge" in the fuse panel on the inside of the dash on the lower left, it's usually a blown fuse that causes this.

There isn't a fuse for this. Like you said dash board control module. The Instrument panel (IP) is a computer, it is fed by the ECM (engine control module) You could have a loose contact with the plug in the IP since you have lost everything. But I wouldn't rule out that the IP has gone bad.
