How do you replace the

How to change the Instrument Panel (Dash) lights in a 2001 Toyota Sienna.

Note! You should disconnect the Negative battery terminal before you start. If you do it will be a few trips before the engine runs and shifts normally. All electrical plugs have a catch. You have to find the correct place to push in, before they will come apart. All of the screws are #2 Phillips.

  1. Remove the two vertical screws in the trim panel above the cluster.
  2. Grab the bottom of the trim and pull strait back. Note, the center AC vent comes with it.
  3. Un-plug the wires and set it aside.
  4. Use a thin plastic putty knife to get under the left and right edges of the square Radio trim. Pry it strait out and let it hang from the wires.
  5. Above the radio face there are two screws that go strait up into the big piece of trim around the cluster. Take them out.
  6. There is another vertical screw on the left side below the dimmer. Remove it too.
  7. Look strait at the dash for the heads of two obvious Phillips head screws. Remove them.
  8. Pull the top of the big tunnel towards you. If you got all of the screws it should roll towards you until it is stopped by the wiring.
  9. Unplug everything. If you have an alarm the plugs may be in a ball of foam tape and cause you fits. Scrape off the tape. You may have to lower the knee bolster, under the dash, to get to the plugs There are little catches to find and push.
  10. You now have easy access to the cluster. Take out the 4 screws and roll it towards you.
  11. The panel lights are the 4 biggest sockets. The bulbs are 194s.
  12. Plug the dimmer back in, hook up the battery, turn on the lights and check the bulbs. Mine all worked after I fiddled with them. I replaced all four anyway.
  13. Remove the green covers carefully. The auto parts store won't have them.
  14. When you put it back together don't forget the light for the ignition switch. You may not have noticed it unplug when you took the big piece off.

Good Luck

White smoke in sienna 2002 for 10 sec

When starting from cold? That is normal from the exhaust. If it is coming from the engine bay it is probably an oil leak onto the exhaust.

I have a 2001 Toyota Ipsum 240e. The engine check

You should have the error code read from the vehicle's computer (a code scanner is needed for this). If you constantly are disconnecting the battery, some manufacturers program an error code in the computer indicating that the battery has been disconnected within the last XX number of starts. If the code is P1600 or P1630, this is probably your problem. If you're disconnecting the battery for security reasons, either install an aftermarket security/anti-theft system or realize that the check engine light will keep coming on.

Have you scanned both the engine computer and the abs computer? Because it is an abs problem, likely a wheel speed sensor.

2001 Toyota Sienna CEL displayed code P1150 & P0420 what could be the problem

Mine is a 2001 Sienna LE. I got the P0420 code and the dealer want to replace an engine control computer for $1600. I've found posts that say you can replace your oxygen sensors, which still costs around $100 each. The P0420 seems to be emissions related. When my check engine light comes on, I run the highest grade, no ethanol gas, and usually within a couple of tanks, the light goes off again. The last time it happened about 2 wks ago, I put in the 93 octane no ethanol premium and a can of Seafoam and within a half a tank, the light went out. Your problem might be more serious, and I don't know what the 1150 code is, but so far that's worked for me.

Air conditioner light flashing

The green light on the A/C button flashes? This happened to my 01 Sienna. It seems to happen for me only when it's raining or I drive through a puddle. Took it to the dealer the first time it happened and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I've had it happen a few times since and it seems to have something to do with getting something under the hood wet. When mine dries out, the A/C works again and the flashing stops. It's not very handy when I need the defroster, but there doesn't seem to be anything else I can do. Not sure if that's your situation, but that's what I've seen with mine.

2001 Sienna has no master key that can be copied.

no. this is a permanent fixture and cannot be bypassed. your toyota dealer can make a new key cut from the VIN# of your van (with proof of ownership), so the condition of your key now will not effect the new key. anything else will surely end up causing problems. good luck!
