1998 toyota tacoma slips out of gear

Check the shifter cable at the transmission side and see tf the pivot on the transmission is not rusted and is not difficult to move, take your vehicle and shift to neutral, now turn it off, put on parking brake or block wheels so you don't run yourself over now you can feel the shift link on the transmission, lube it up as it may not be going in fully and causing to slip out, good luck..

1996 toyota tacoma wont start when it's hot & sitting a while. when restart attempted only hear cylanoid clickingll

Your starter is going bad. When the brushes and bushings get worn, it does exactly what your describing. Sometimes you can Wack the starter with a hammer and it will start(if you can get to it) a good solid blow or 2...just make sure you don't wack the solenoid. Change your starter or have it rebuilt.

Truck misses when first started

Sounds like you have a blown or seeping head gasket on one cylinder. You need to take it in and have it checked. You could also check your coolant level when truck is cool. You will need to remove the radiator cap to check properly. DO NOT REMOVE CAP WHEN HOT!!!! You could also pull the sparkplugs and see if one is wet after it sits for some time.

4cly tacom w/auto trans won't stat unless i jiggle shifter.

Check your neutral safety switch by using a OBD II code reader. This switch prevents the truck from starting unless the shifter is in park or neutral. I think the code you're looking for is P1780.

Coolant leak from the engine warmer

Some have a center set screw that you loosen then remove assembly, others are tapped in like a conventional freeze out plug. Once removed, clean and lightly sand mating surface and install replacement piece.

Brake lights don't work, dash lights come on when

brake lights operate off a simple switch mounted to the bracket of the brake peddle. that switch can easily have a wire pulled out, the switch it self dies from use. a fuse in the fuse box in the lower part of the could be blow. as far as the cruise going off when headlights are turned on, could be the switch on the column itself is worn out. remember your girl is a teenager now, they give you the most random problems. No electric current on spark plug

have the codes read, determine if the coils are shot, the crank sensor is shot, and the less likely and most costly repair would be the ECM is shot. after you have the codes read (for free at local parts shop) you can fix the problem
