I need instructions on how to put on a timing belt
You have to remove all
the brackets holding the top of the engine on the passenger side of the
car,
alternator, power steering, and A/C belts. Then you can get to the
plastic
covers that enclose the timing belt. The large bolt holding the
harmonic balancer was a hard one for me - had to use a large air impact
(fortunately my neighbor has a tire business and had a huge compressor
on the back of his truck).
Align the cam sprockets to the top of the engine with the little arrows
on the head. Then you will notice the belt is aligned on the crankshaft
at the bottom of the engine with the keyway facing slightly to the left
(11 o'clock position or so). It will not be straight up. There is a
little "o" mark on
the crankshaft sprocket which aligns with a mark on the new belt.
Getting these marks exact requires writing down their exact locations
before removing the old belt. Don't try it from memory unless you are a
trained toyota factory technician.
The cam sprockets at the top of the engine are lettered "R" and "L".
The
new timing belt will have corresponding letters. The timing belt has to
be
placed on with the letters reversed as they are facing you (as the "R"
cam
is actually on your left as you face the engine from the passenger
side).
There should be an emissions label under the hood (the front of the car)
and near that there should be a diagram showing how the belt is routed
just buy the correct belt and put it on but be carefull cause the belt
has to tensioned correctly or it will fall off.

1995 toyota avalon, overheating,just changed
I do not see a good connection between the serpentine belt and the engine overheating suddenly.
Perhaps you have a lot of burnt belt rubber on the water pump pulley?
Is the upper radiator hose hot? If so the stat is opening. If you start the car cold with the radiator cap off you can watch for coolant starting to flow and make sure the stat works...if the flow is low you have either a blocked stat or poor belt grip at the waterpump. Have you flushed the radiator recently? After 15+ years your car could be ready for a cleaning.

Window won't go up
Watch the dome light as you push the button, if it dims slightly, the motor may be bad, if it does not dim, the switch may be bad, keep fiddling with the switch if the light does not dim. You have to watch it very carefully.

Power window switch on any of the doors does not
the fuse should be in the fuse box under the dash and there should be a label somewhere to tell which it is. There maybe some other things that do not function because they are on the same fuse. Any other electrical issues at the same time?

My parking brake is coming on and off. but my
THE LIGHT FOR THE PARKING BRAKE IS SOMETIMES ALSO USED FOR LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL OR WORN OUT BRAKE PADS. CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, A FLOAT ACTIVATES A SWITCH WHEN THE LEVEL IS LOW. IF THE LEVEL IS VERY LOW BUT THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A LEAK, CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKE PADS (FRONT & REAR). WHEN THE BRAKE PADS WEAR OVER TIME, BRAKE FLUID REMAINS IN THE CALIPERS TO COMPENSATE FOR MATERIAL WORN OFF. ALSO A SMALL METAL CONTACT EMBEDED IN THE BRAKE MATERIAL WIRED TO THE PARKING BRAKE LAMP, WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DISC (GROUND) WHEN BRAKE PAD MATERIAL WEARS OFF AND LIGHTS THE LAMP.

Aftermarket stereo wiring harness does not fit oem
Theres a standard amongst most stereos, so if these colors apply, then you will be right,
Red is Ignition power
orange is direct power
Black is earth
blue is for phone
White is for electric arial
then there will be four coloured wires with matching color trace wires, these are the speaker wires.
Hope this gets you going, good luck.

1995 toyota avalon will not start and gear shift
Sounds like a battery problem. The clicking sound is usually the starter solenoid trying to engage the starter but not enough voltage or amps. There has to be enough power or you will not be able to move shifter assuming you pushed the brake pedal down while trying to shift out of park. And, it hasn't been noted whether it is a manual or auto trans.

Cigarrete lighter not working, all fuses are okay.
See if you can actually pop the cigarrete lighter out of the console. There will be 2 connecting wires at the bottom. Chances are that upon hitting a bump hard or just through normal vibrations from being driven for almost 15 years, the connections may have came loose. Just slip them back on and it should be good to go. If not then the actual heating agent in the lighter may have gone bad as well.

I changed my car battery and the car audio system
hi, this is a very common problem that people have when they have had work done on their vehicles and had the battery disconnected, the problem is their only one way of solving your problem that is by going to the main dealers their is no other way of doing this as they do this so as people dont steal the radios and then unlock them themselves.
You need to take the car with you as they wont give you the code over the phone in case you have stolen the stereo so taking the car to the main dealers is the only way your going to get this code and get your audio system working again.
Their is no here else you can get the codes from so sorry i cant give you any easy solution to this problem the only way is to take your car to the main dealers you might even need the log book or owners book with you.
Once they give you this code its best you write it down in case you need it in the future or when you come to sell the car at least you can pass this info onto the new owner.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
