Air conditioning switch on dash doesn't seem to work. How can I test it?

Remove the wire plug to the AC switch and then use DVM (Digital Volt meter) set to resistance at say 200 ohm range and use the meter probes across the two exposed terminals of AC switch (depressed position) to see if you read low resistance. If so it shows switch is working.

How do u bleed a power steering on 89 camry

It's pretty much self bleeding, With the cap off the power steering reservoir turn the wheel as far as it will go one way then turn fully the other way, keep going back and forward until the bubbles stop coming up and it becomes quiet. Sometimes you need to add power steering additive to completely remove the air bubbles.

Hello, obviously the fuel pump is not the problem and this mechanic sounds like he has no clue what is going on, he needs to recheck on the work he did because it sounds like something happened to cause this problem while he was working on it. Maybe some wires were pinched at the valve cover area or the wires for the crankshaft sensor were damaged.

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o212/btngcsls/ECT.jpgThis switch is for the Electronic controlled transmission. in the normal position the transmission uses its normal shift points. In the PWR position the shift point are delayed to give you the illusion of more power. Keep it in the normal position for everyday driving. 89 Camry won't start!

Check for power on the small wore at the starter with the key in the crank position. If there is power there and your sure the battery is good than the starter is bad. If there is no power work your way back to the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal. There should be power in and out with the key in the crank position and the pedal fully depressed. Make sure there is not a balled up floor mat behind the clutch pedal. Couldn't tell you how many times I charged customers for a tow and an electrical check and removed there floor mat! If there is no power to the neutral safety switch than the problem may be a little more involved. I need to know if it has a four cylinder or v-6 That should give you a couple things to check in the mean time. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Fans Not Working

Yes it COULD be a bad relay. But then again, it COULD be a malfunctioning A/C high pressure switch or a bad engine coolant temperature switch, or bad ground circuit, or any of the wiring in-between. If your Camry is equipped with the 2.5L engine, it could also be the radiator cooling fan control amplifier. The system must be properly diagnosed to locate the source of the fault.

Car has power but clicks when turned over and wont start

Probably a partly dead battery, or loose cconnection. Try boosting it first. If there is no difference, make sure it's all the way in park, or if it's a standard, make sure the clutch is firmly pushed in.

89 toyota camry runs in idle ...dies when press

Sounds as if you have a clogged or damaged freshair intake hose, which is the flex pipe connecting the air inlet at the front of the vehicle to the air cleaner. This part will run you about $80 new. (This is for the 6 cylinder model.)

What does fuel filter look like

Depends. There are several different types of fuel filters, and depending on the make/model/year of your car, it can vary from being made of metal, glass or plastic. I'm thinking that you want to locate and inspect your fuel filter, but you haven't given enough information about your car. Please give the car details mentioned above, and the engine size would help also.

How to replace headlights on 1989 toyota camry

1989 Toyota CamryA little personal tip - if you get fingermarks on a halogen headlamp, you can wipe them off with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or, if you want to do what mechanics do, keep a number of 2X2 alcohol wipes in your automotive toolbox just to wipe off halogen headlight bulbs.HEADLAMP REMOVAL & INSTALLATIONSealed Beam HeadlampsSee Figures 2 and 3Before making a headlight replacement, make sure that the headlight switch is in the off position. 1. Loosen the screws, release the clips and remove the headlight door. To release the clips, insert a flat blade screwdriver into the jaws of the clip and pry on the jaws. 2. Remove the beam unit retaining ring screws and remove the beam unit. Fig. 2: Headlamp door clip removal 3. Compress the lock releases and disconnect the wire connector from the headlight. If the connector is tight, wiggle it while holding in the lock releases and pulling out. Fig. 3: Do not remove the adjusting screws when removing the head lamp sealed bulbNever try to loosen the aim adjusting screws. If the screws are loosened, the headlights will have to be re-aimed by a qualified technician. 4. When installing, use only a sealed beam unit with the same part number and wattage.Composite HeadlampsSee Figures 4, 5 and 6Fig. 4: Headlight bulbs are inside the sockets located in the engine compartmentFig. 5: Detach the wiring from the back of the headlamp bulbThis procedure only applies to replaceable halogen headlight bulbs (such as Nos. 9004 and 9005); it does not pertain to sealed beam units. 1. Open the vehicle's hood and secure it in an upright position.Fig. 6: Twist and pull the bulb out, but do not touch the bulb if it is still good 2. Unfasten the locking ring which secures the bulb and socket assembly, then withdraw the assembly rearward. 3. If necessary, gently pry the socket's retaining clip over the projection on the bulb (use care not to break the clip.) Pull the bulb from the socket. To install: 4. Before installing a light bulb into the socket, ensure that all electrical contact surfaces are free of corrosion or dirt. 5. Line up the replacement headlight bulb with the socket. Firmly push the bulb onto the socket until the spring clip latches over the bulb's projection.WARNINGDo not touch the glass bulb with your fingers. Oil from your fingers can severely shorten the life of the bulb. If necessary, wipe off any dirt or oil from the bulb with rubbing alcohol before completing installation. 6. To ensure that the replacement bulb functions properly, activate the applicable switch to illuminate the bulb which was just replaced. (If this is a combination low and high beam bulb, be sure to check both intensities.) If the replacement light bulb does not illuminate, either it too is faulty or there is a problem in the bulb circuit or switch. Correct if necessary. 7. Position the headlight bulb and secure it with the locking ring. 8. Close the vehicle's hood.Fig. 1 - various automotive lamps10_4_2011_8_32_12_pm.jpgFig.2 - Headlamp Door Clip Removal10_4_2011_8_32_40_pm.jpgFig. 3: Do not remove the adjusting screws when removing the head lamp sealed bulb10_4_2011_8_33_24_pm.jpgFig. 4: Headlight bulbs are inside the sockets located in the engine compartment10_4_2011_8_33_51_pm.jpgFig. 5: Detach the wiring from the back of the headlamp bulb10_4_2011_8_34_22_pm.jpgFig. 6: Twist and pull the bulb out, but do not touch the bulb if it is still good.10_4_2011_8_34_49_pm.jpg

Fan makilng lot of noise

Possible that the bearing are bad or that the blades are rubbing on the sides due to a faulty bearing assmebly.
Sut down the engine and manually turn the fan and if there is sqeaking sound then the bearings are faulty or the fan assembly needs a change depending on the nature of the damage.
Have some oil sprayed into and see if there is any change .
