The timing most certainly needs to be reset. You may find that you are one tooth off when you try to adjust the distributor's position. If you cannot adjust the position to set the timing to the Toyota spec, pull the distributor out and adjust the shaft position 1 tooth.
i dont understand what wire your talking about exactly however on the starter where it connects does it bolt on or push on if its a bolt on just go by at the local store a round eyelet crimp fitting with wire shrink it is like 6 bucks at the parts store
Be gentle as there are plastic hooks which can break easily. Follow this, p112 step 9 and 10. At step 10 the rear console should be pulled rearwards and upwards without force, as these hooks engage the front half of the console at the front side edges.http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/bo.pdf
