It sounds like a dead spot in the TPS (throttle position sensor) it is the only sensor that is subject to physical wear (1996 its old replace it) also the 02 sensor is old too.

The collector ring under the steering wheel is not making connection. Did you lose a brush when you put the steering wheel back on. Try cleaning the collector ring with steel wool.

It is better to use a spark gap to observe the size and quality of the spark when testing. A suitable gap can be manufactured from an old spark plug modified by carefully cutting away much of the tread with a hacksaw and taping it to a bulldog or crocodile clip so it produces a gap of about 10/13mm. It certain isn't unusual for an ignition system to produce a spark when the key is released. It is possible for the inside of a distributor cap to develop a conductive coating so spark testing should be done initially from the coil lead disconnected from the dist cap. I don't know what ignition system your Camry is fitted with but broadly there will be a trigger, amplifier, coil and spark distribution. Older versions used discrete components but as time marched on more was integrated into the management system though regardless of system it cannot work efficiently without a good supply of current and effective grounds so the first thing to do is identify the system type and components and check these using a voltmeter while the engine is cranking. Without more details it is difficult to tell you more that would be useful to you - clearly if the amplifier is integrated the approach must be somewhat different than if it is discrete and similarly whether the distributor contains the trigger and if it does whether it is a hall-effect type, optical or inductive...

Just try matching from the outside to the outside, middle to middle, etc. or use a continuity tester against each pair until the light up. Solder the wires, do not use wire nuts.

it is an electrical problem and most likely associated with the ignition circuit that includes bad ground point for battery wire , dirty and loose terminals , faulty ignition relay,problem ignition switch ( too many dangling things hanging on the key) problem with crank position sensor or sensor wires, problem engine mounts allowing the reaction of the engine to pull on wiring harnesses and affecting the circuit maybe a visit to an accredited auto electrician that has experience on your make of vehicle will get a better answer

There are two engines that can be in this model - a four cylinder and a six-cylinder. The four cylinder further breaks down to an auto transmission and manual transmission. I have attached all three diagrams below. The first is the 4 cyl Auto trans, then the 4 cyl Man trans, then the 6 cyl.

spark is allowed by the following items crank position sensor cam shaft position sensor immobilizer ignition control module check that what you did to fix the engine light didn't intere with something else

1st check air pressure in tires make sure they are all set to 35psi.
If that don't fix it
2nd it would be out of line. Front end alignment will be needed.
3rd inner tie Rod ends may be worn out.
If you fix all of these and your problem still exist then it would be your inner tie rods.

But 1st i would check pressure in tires and go from there.

page 14 of your owners manual shows how to lock unlock the child proof setup on door -----open door and by latch will see the the lock move to unlock position ! CAUTION LOCKING WITH REAR DOOR CHILDPROTECTORS Turn the lock knob to the "LOCK" position as shown on the label.
