Hi I am Vortash the Rat a tat tat sound is probably the solenoid on the starter trying to kick in ,, now either the battery is dead or not enough power to turn it over the starter has jammed ( if your pick up is a manual gearbox try rocking the car in gear to free it ) or if an automatic a socket spanner on the crankshaft nut , car in neutral and turn it by hand see if you can hear the starter motor turning also or if the engine is jammed ... )
Bad Battery will also cause this as will poor charging from alternator and the battery runs low of juice .
A more drastic and serious reason this can happen is a cambelt failure piston is on the valves so engine will not turn making the solenoid cut in and out as it trys to turn the engine . hope for your sake it isn't that ?. finally if all that fails remove starter refurbish clean and or replace ..,. regards Vortash

OK THE SETTING IS 5 DEG BEFORE TOP DEAD CENTER BUT YOU HAVE TO JUMP OVER TE1 AND E-1 IN FUSE BOX IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT THIS GROUNDS IGN SYSTEM. TAKE BACK OFF AFTER AJUSTMENTS COMPLETED

Replace instrument cluster.

It sounds like the cluster is gone bad if everything is not working. Usually, if just the speedometer isn't working then it's the speed sensor on the transmission that has gone bad. But I think you have a cluster that has just died. Check on EBAY for a used cluster and ask them to roll the mileage to what is on your vehicle now.

Drain the antifreeze and follow the lower radiator hose to where to bolts onto the water pump. There should be three 12 millimeter bolts. Remove those and replace the thermostat. The antifreeze will drain out of the block. Make sure you have the new thermostat gasket in place around the thermostat. Use a small bit of silicone for sealing. Installation is reverse order of removal.

Trucks sold in California have one sensor in front of the catalytic converter and one after the cat.
Everybody else has just the sensor in front of the cat.
