1992 Toyota Pickup - Page 8 Questions & Answers
How can I test a ignition switch 1992 Toyota pickup 4x4 4cyl. I have switch out
It would be a very small amount. Ohms equals resistance to current passage. What you are looking for in the switch is continuity between certain terminals when switch is moved through all positions. Sorry I don't have the necessary diagram. Check a repair manual for your toyota. There are only 4 positions: off, on or run, accessories, and start. You have a hot wire coming into the switch, and routed out another way by the switch's position, now the run position would have to connect with both run and accessories-...I know I'd have to have a diagram, too many fuzz balls in my head!
Cranks well but won't start.
Looks like you got spark, and gas in the throttle body made it fire: nice work.
Sounds like your fuel pump is out or the wiring is not turning it on. One way to be sure is to set a spare battery near the tank and hot wire the pump with jumper wires. Or if you have a voltmeter check for voltage at the fuel pump connector while the truck is cranking.. If the pump is working and getting gas to the engine, see if the injectors are pulsing. A good idea to check fuel pressure if the pump is working.
Toyota truck does it have to over heat to blow a head gasket
You don't need to overheat to blow a head gasket. One other test you can do is remove the radiator cap and run the engine. There is likely to be lots of bubbles and perhaps even spouting of water out of the radiator if the head gasket has blown. It certainly sounds like you have this issue.By the way, you will use up all the coolant and damage the engine if you continue to run it with a blown gasket.
