Pwr surge took out alt, windows guages blinkers, wipers, heat and ac
Hi S, It seems to me that the surge may have been caused by the alternator before blowing. A short circuit may has caused the diodes to blow, which in turn will probably have been caused by a short circuit created when the radio theft took place. The first thing to do is isolate all loose cables and make sure that there are no internal shorts inside any auxiliary equipment. After making repairs to the alternator, or fitting a replacement, disconnect all connectors to switches and other controlled units such as cabin heating and ventilation systems, music, TV and navigation systems. The fuse box is located in the engine compartment. Check all for continuity and replace burned fuses and at the same time, check for any damaged relays. Once are you satisfied everything is as it should be turn the ignition key to auxiliary and check all cables for overheating. Connect each unit one at a time until a fuse blows or all are connected. If a fuse blows while connecting, replace the fuse, but leave that circuit disconnected and continue until all are connected or another fuse blows. Once the dangerous circuits have been identified, trace the fault either into the wiring harness or the units. Repair if possible or replace. Once that has been done, crank and start the engine. Check all circuits with the engine running and the park brake fully engaged. If the engine fails to start check the electrics which operate the starter motor. Hope this info is at least a little helpful. Regards John
The check engine light comes on
Check engine lights can be cause by a wide variety of things, from something as simple as the gas cap not being on properly to a sensor in the vehicle's electronics. The general rule of thumb with engine lights is if they're on steady, you're ok to drive it, but should get it to a mechanic at your earliest convenience. If the light is flashing, you should stop driving the vehicle and have it towed to a garage.
Interior light will not come on when door opens
all doors?
most newer cars , this is programable.
- open glove cox
- take out opr guide. lost it? bad, want get stranded? get on.
- read dome light page.
- see how to turn on light by hand, does it turn on by hand?
- if not the lamp is bad, or fuse blown.
- if lamp tunes on by hand its good. so the door switch is bad
- most 2004 cars and newer even tell you which door is ajar in the cluster, did you look? try each door, ?
- read same page, on most newer cars, this light can be set to
- set auto turn on, to off, (like mine is) stealth is best. (im sure)

- Disconnect the 4 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
NOTE
When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal. Remove the 4 bolts and the ignition coil-on-plugs.
WARNING
Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
NOTE
Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
- Remove the 4 spark plugs.
To install:
- Inspect the spark plugs, as outlined in this section.
- Adjust the spark plug gap, as necessary, to 1.25-1.35mm (0.049-0.053 in.).
WARNING
Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
- Install the spark plugs and tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
NOTE
Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
- Install the 4 ignition coils and bolts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Connect the 4 ignition coil electrical connectors.
- Install the alternator air inlet duct and the 2 nuts and the bolt. Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
