did you use a manifold gauge, HI and LO side, if your compresor is not engaging probably due to a low charge, because your gages must read about 15F below ambient temperature that translate to on a 80f day uyour gage must read about 95psi on hi and lo (no compresor running)with compressor runing your lo side must be around 35psi and your hi side around 200+ psi depending on amount of air cooling your conderser, also note charging amout tag to not overcharge system, on other hand your problem may be a electricall, check your fuses and MG/C cluth relay by pass it to confirm your compresor is in good working condition.
