I own a citroen ax 1996 just lately i've noticed

The soot coming out of the exhust, is from burning oil which with out compression testing the engine can be one of two things.
1) the valve stem seals need replacing
2) the piston ring are either worn or clogged up.
But both these things realy need a garage to do if you are not mechanically minded.

These have a problem with the wires in the hinge area on the drivers door, click the latch so the door thinks it is shut, do what you do to get the problem and if you still get it then wiggle the rubber tube carrying the wires in the hinge area. If the problem is gone with the door open or you change it by wiggling then the wores have cracked and need fixing, peugeot used to sell a harness part.

Did they add any de-icer (i.e. HEET, Maxima...) to the fuel tank? If not, dump a couple of cans in and wait 5 minutes. If there IS some water left, it should take care of it. THEN fill your tank. Good Luck

Electric winow on passenger side

12 volt dc motors use brushes and commutators. One or both of your brushes may be making intermittent contact with the commutator bars, or your commutator bars may be bridged with carbon buildup from the brushes wearing down. To check brushes remove the slotted round caps and check them. Look inside the hole after you pull the brushes out. You will see parallel bars of copper. the spaces between all of them should be clear of carbon and debris. the coppers should be shiny.

How to wire a harry moss air horne relay to

If the compressor has 3 air connections on top then the two lower terminals with nuts are the + and - supply inputs to the compressor motor. The two top spade terminals power a solenoid valve which changes a triple sequence (illegal?) to a combined blended triple tone. I don't think polarity is an issue but to check this connect a 12V battery -ve to the mounting bracket on the compressor. Attach 2 wires to a headlamp bulb and connect one to battery +ve. Then touch the spare wire to each of the 4 terminals in turn. If the bulb lights that terminal is at compressor ground. You can determine the operation of the relay in the same way. Between 2 terminals the relay will operate. Note those and then test each to the relay bracket to see if one side of the coil is grounded. By powering the relay directly from the battery you can then use the bulb to determine which contacts are 'made' when the relay operates. You will need a relay to control power to the motor. The solenoid valve probably only takes a couple of amps. You could run both the motor and the solenoid valve from the same relay if you just wanted a blended composite tone.

Citroen saxo furio pwer steering fault

Hi
is it leaking from anywhere, quite common o saxo's they leak from the steering rack, they have a small circular seal that go's and drips fluid out of the bottom.

It is also quite common on saxo's for the power steering pump to fail, it's the same on the peugeots, this is most likely the cause so get that checked first, you can get one off ebay for about £30 and they are fairly easy to fit.

Hope this helps
Regards
Dan
