It is the anti polution filter mounted in PSA group cars, unfortunately you cannot do much without main dealer as some of the garages who claim to deal with it really don't know what to do. It is not recommended to drive with this filter blocked as it will lead to engine damage.

The battery is flat and does not have enough power to activate the starter or there is a problem with the starter switch. Check the battery first by having the SG of the acid checked. This will immediately tell you if the battery is low, or just charge the battery and see if it will start.

on a staight four cylinder,you just undo ALL the bolts on the alternator and swing it inwards towards the block.replace the belt and use the alternator to tighten the tension of the belt so that the longest stretch has 1/2"play.use a long screwdriver as a lever.

Before driving again, check your oil level. It is not uncommon for Peugeot's to leak a little oil. Great cars in my opinion, but do leak a little oil. got to be a uk question ,fan belt and not serpentine belt ,anyway my all data books come later in the month hopefully from uk on a truck,so i would have a diagram but i dont have them at the moment so its from memory and starting at bottom pulley to ac pump then around the idler ,onto alternator back around idler /tensioner then onto power steering and then back to bottom pulley.I THINK or i could be confused with the renault ,old age it comes to us all iam afraid

try cleaning the idle speed control valve this may be sticking
