Looking to disable the alarm system for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport

I recently changed the battery on my '96 cherokee sport, and now the alarm system is preventing me from starting the car. I do not have the alarm remote. The lights blink and there is a ticking noise that goes on for a few minutes whenever I open the car door. I removed the wiring from underneath the dashboard, but the alarm still goes off. How can I disable the alarm so I can start the car?

96 Jeep Cherokee headlights go on and off after being on a while.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Automatic, 2 wheel drive. After the headlights have been on for about 10 minutes, they go on and off. I have replaced the headlight switch. Still have the same problem. I don't have the owners manual. I have looked at a Haynes manual chassis exterior electrical system diaghram. It shows a fuse then a circiut breaker(also calling the breaker the headlamp switch). I looked in the control center under the hood. The lid to the control panel dosen't list a circiut breaker on it. I didn't locate one on the under dash fuse block either. I also cannot figure out which fuse mightbe for the headlights. Also could an inline fuse link be the problem? If so, can you help me in locating where it could be. Any help wolud be greatly appreciated. Thanks- Ray

It sounds like the relay switch is weak or going bad. It gets power and then stays closed giving 12V to the lights. Try replacing the relay.

1996 Jeep Cherokee Turn Signals Not Working

My flashers work but my turn signals are not. I have fixed one electrical problem after another, but this has me confused. I had trouble with the ignition harness after installing a remote starter because of the extra wires in the steering column. After rearranging the wires, I no longer had problems with the ignition switch, but my turn signals stopped working. Could it be the switch or the turn signal flasher? Can anyone help?

Replace you turn signal flasher relay, it should be right by your fuse box or near the brake pedal.(it looks like a solenoid, a cylindrical shape, with 3 prongs on the end) it is attached to a wiring harness that you just have to unplug it from. i couldnt find mine at any auto parts store, had to go to jeep, costs 44 bucks. that should do it

96 Jeep cherokee ran out of gas, re-fuel, won't start. No spark.

1996 Jeep cherokee ran out of gas, I re-fuelled, now it wont start. Fuel pump works fine. (I by-passed the fuel pump relay). Fuel pump is not getting power and there is no spark. This has happened to me twice now.

The first time I was tinkering with it try to find spark put it back together. I may've unknowingly done something. But then I added 2 more gallons of gas, it started right up. Ran for two to three weeks. I ran it out of gas again! :(
Now, nothing seems to be happening.
It has over a 1/4 tank of gas.

You may have to prime the fuel pump. Or replace the fuel pump if that does not work. Why do you let it run out of gas? This is definately not good for an injected motor. It will continue to cause more and more problems. Fuel injectors should never run dry.

Where are freeze plugs located on 1996 jeep

Where are freeze plugs located on 1996 jeep cherokee i have water leaking from back of engine was told it might be freezer plugs.

Is it coming from the top, Can you see? Did the car freeze or overheat lately? If not, it is not a freeze plug. It is a coolant line running to the rear of the engine, it has an O-ring gasket that has gone, It is real easy to fix, but you have to take the intake off to get to it. Buy the gasket kit, the seals/O-rings are off the shelf sizes, nothing special, and you will need a schematic of the engine so you can see where you are going. Check it out.

Hi.

This vehicle does not have a Transmission Control Module.
Transmission control is accomplished through the Engine Control Module or Powertrain Control Module.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located in the right-rear side of the engine compartment.

I have a 1996 Jeep

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Headlight Problem: Year ago? Switched on high beams, complete darkness (low beams don't work at the same time I've come to find out). Solution: Don't turn on high beams. Problem: 2 weeks ago? Turned/pulled on light switch... no lights at all. Solution: New light switch. Worked (happy). Lasted ...one day? Stopped (sad/p'd off/furious!). Can it maybe be the High beam/turn signal/wiper lever? I have checked fuses. After a small tantrum, they came on this morning. I checked them after work... they worked. But on the way home I checked them on the reflection of a car in front of me... didn't work.
