How do you tighten belt on a cherokee
To make a belt adjustment, you need to loosen the bolts on the power steering pump. Under the pump, you will see a long bolt that runs sideways. You loosen the bolt that locks that bolt from turning,(on the end nearest the block)then turn it till the pump moves and tightens the belt. (1" deflection at the longest run is about right). Then tighten up everything you just loosened.

What years would work for
junkyards have part interchange information. find one in the phone book, call them and ask what years will interchange and do they have one. if they don't have one they can get you one. every jeep I ever saw had crappy hinges, so do yourself a favor and put new hinges on the door when you find it before you put it on. you get hinges from the dealer, they are still around. getting a door lined up takes a knack, i would pay a body man 20 bucks for a half hour of his time sticking the thing on right.
for a small fee you can do a parts request online through many member recyclers. google it. i have never found a part nearby with that method, means a lot when you are thinking about shipping something like a door. The old fashioned phone still works for some things.

I have a maintenance required
it is not due to a fault. The light comes on automatically at ceratin mileage intervals. The dealer can reset the light with their scan tool. Not sure if any generic scan tools can reset it. Google it, and you'll see there are lots of people that just take the bulb out...

First i got two problems.
The lighter has an orange wire with a black stripe on it.The light in the ashtray is the same and then a black wire going to earth.
Steering shake.Here is a checklist
Tires out of balance
loose/worn wheel bearings
Bad shock absorbers
Steering box loose
The idler arm damaged or worn
A bad ball joint.
With the car off.Get someone to rock the steering wheel side to side.Listen for any sounds. Then do this with the front of the car jacked up off the ground.(don't get under it)It should help pinpoint the problem.Hope this helps

I need a picture (diagram) of a 1993 Jeep Cherokee
Just want to suggest that if you do not have an owners manual in your glove box then you really should pick one up at the dealership. It will have the fuse layout in it along with a lot of other valuable information.

Check Fuel pump seal at top of tank. Check carbon canister to see if it full of fuel and or carbon. You will have to disconnect the hoses to it and tip it upside down. Plugged evap hoses from tank to engine. Leaking fuel injector.

Hi i have a Jeep Cherokee sport 1992 and i will
90 and 92 should interchange but you may need to change sensors if the connectors are different. I suggest that you remove the crank sensor 'till the engine is in place unless you are swinging the trans with the engine (it sits very close to the flywheel and can get damaged) Bosch plugs work fine in that engine (I have five of them and have Bosch in all) Only thing that may be different is the exhaust manifold but that will be obvious if it is.

You probably have a broken vacuum line under the hood ,

I hae a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It starts fine
What you have is a crankshaft position sensor that is breaking down under a hot condition .Also the sensors electromagnetic field is leaking out electrodes so when it rains for a while and the air is very damp this basically shorts out the sensor. The sensor is located on the back side of the engine, drivers side were the transmission and engine come together. I hope this will help!

Or, the engine turns slowly? Or, the relay clicks but the engine does not turn? I'm trying to help and you aren't giving me anything to work with!!! Tell me EXACTLY what is going on there...I can't see or hear it...you can.

Starts quickly cold. must crank 5-8 seconds when
At that mileage, it's possible that you have one or more injectors that are beginning to leak. When that happens you need to crank the engine over longer in order to clear the raw fuel from the intake and re-pressurize the system as well. Also check the ballast resistor (white ceramic block with two wires going to it) on the drivers fender back near the firewall. I can't remember exactly what it does but do remember that it alters the way the pump operates after warm up.
