1983 AMC American Motors Eagle Questions & Answers
Late for everything...
Do you have any idea what ignition system it has, as there were 2 or 3 used in around those years on the AMC products. If it's the HEI system, I'd suspect (1) pickup coil in distributor, or (2) module in distributor. If it's not HEI, let us know and we can help further.

Dies
Yeah Pal, just set the idle up a bit so it won't die when you let off. If it's flooding, the carburetor float needs reset/lowered in the bowl.

Brake calipar diagram
Silly, you don't need a diagram, just use a 8 inch c-clamp with the hook on the back of the caliper and the adjustable screw in pad on the outside of the outer pad itself and screw the c-clamp in till it stops to squeeze the caliper piston all the way back in to it's casting to give you the room to put it back on the same way you took it off. To remove it, jack the tire off the ground and remove it. Use the c-clamp to squeeze the piston back in, remove the to caliper slide blots from the back that the caliper slides on, pull the old pads out and put in the new ones, being sure they are turned the same as what you removed, then put the caliper back on, placing the slide bolts back in and tighten them tight, then put your tire back on. Pump the brake pedal till it up and hard again, then do the other side the same way. No problem. Happy to be of service my friend.

I need to adjust the
Loosen the top bolt and use a bar to pry outwards on the alternator till it moves to it's tightest spot to tighten the belt. Then tighten the top bolt while holding the alternator out with the bar. You're done.
Need to bleed brakes on
Fill the master cylinder with brake fluid, leave the cap off, open bleeder on left front wheel cylinder till fluid begins to come out and close the bleeder. Go to the right front and bleed it, this is gravity bleeding and works fine without a helper to pump the pedal, when fluid starts to come out close bleeder. Now go to the right rear and bleed it the same way. Then lastly, the left rear. Bleed it and you should be done and with a good pedal. If you don't have good pedal, you'll need someone to pump and hold the brake down as you bleed each one from the closest to master cylinder around to the farthest from it in sequence. It's the only way to bleed brakes.
Having wiring problem on 1970
Yeah, You're right on the position of the solenoid, and you hook the side large post to the hot post of the battery with large cable, and the large post on other side of solenoid to the starter with the large cable. The single wire that comes from the starter switch goes on the small post to the front, and if theres a second small post, it doesn't have to nave a wire on it, but normally it is a power cutout to other things that are not needed to be powered when cranking. Use a test light and have someone crank the engine over to test and see for sure which wire is the one coming from the switch before you connect it.
84' amc eagle wagon starter wont turn over
If starter is good still, Check the battery connections on the battery and at starter. Clean then shiney. Check also the solenoid wire connection from the switch at the starter solenoid. Be sure it's clean and tight also. Then just be sure the battery is up to par.
