even when you buy from napa ,auto zone - checkers- all parts are manufactured from same place, I replaced the front wheel bearings in my 07 tc and with in a month they went bad had to replace them again, used a better bearing than what was the manufacture specs, so it could be bad workmanship or bad products, no every part is made to last .

I would check all hoses first, then best ting to do is have an compression test done to rule out a head gasket, if this is good may again be a hose

clogged air filter, proper air in tires, wrong octain for car? who knows, it could be all of this

lots of bolts, to remove, trans bolts, it is a lot of work to do

under the hood on driver side, should say dot fluid only

locate a repair manual and follow it to remove the trans

need to get quotes and go from there

need to take it in and let a certified dealer look at it

If you got a backfire, the timing is off.

It sounds like you have put a good amount of time and money into this problem with no success. When will enough be enough? Two words come to mind: factory service. Please take this car in for service.

the dash speed readout is allways feed via the transmission speed sensor , it's usually close to the final drive output from transmission , this not working would also effect car if it had a automatic trans in it as it would not know what speed to shift at, a little less obvious in a 5 speed , wheel sensors usually only feedback to ABS brake system as they tell abs what tires are turning
