1988 Jaguar xj6 Trans does nothing.
Sounds like the limp mode rotary switch or the clutch switch on drivers side of tranny is defective.

check to see if the is any thing stuck in seat track of the seatsuch as coins/small pieces .

Try to turn motor manually .

I would have the ignition itself replaced. These go out all the time and will leave you stranded. Get a new ignition keyed to your current key and you won't have to do programming. A locksmith can do this for you. Do it soon though before it stops turning.

the "brake" light in the dash is a warning light to indicate you have a serious problem with your brakes. Suggest you get it fixed immediatly.

Reset yes, just lock and unlock the driver door with the key. Turned off no.

not difficult just unbolt it ,,,same as mine ,easy to do

If you are in a rural area, I would be checking for chewed wiring.

ff17 is throttle position sensor its the variable resistor on the throttle body or wiring to it thats causing the fault code the car will carry on working but the fueling will not be correct cos its working on get you home system so the ecm uses basic settings to keep the engine running ie, avg temp etc.

from memory the fuel pump relay has a timer part built inside to prime the system at ignition on sounds like its gone down
