Parking brake
05 LS, i also have the same problem, heater blowing hot and parking brake light coming on. i just read that the malfunction from the (dual coil water control valve) will cause a spike in the system an will set off the parking brake light. The dealer wanted $645 w/tax to install a new water control valve Ford Part # 2R8Z18495AA,
YEAH RIGHT !!!! I found the part
on line for $110 w/shipping, i am going to install my self. Its sits behind the radiator passenger side about 6" deep from the fender. very easy to get to , one bolt, one sensor needs detached and the 3 heater hoses that go to it need clamped off before replacing it. As far as the brake light i read that you have to get the brake
re-calibrated by the dealer, I dont know yet. If you want the web address for the part let me know. i also posted where to find your code for your door access on a 05 LS.

P0305 trouble code
P0305 is a misfire code in cylinder 5. Not sure whether you have a v6 or a v8, but regardless, this car in particular goes through ignition coils pretty quickly. The best way that I have found to deal with a misfire code is to change all 8 ignition coils and spark plugs at the same time. Make sure that you use only Motorcraft coils as the PCM does not play well with after market coils. rockauto.com has them for around $50 per coil
Battery dies after two days if you don't drive it
The first thing that I would try is to bring the battery to a parts store (oreilly, autozone, advanced auto, napa ect.) and have them test the battery. Most places will do this for free. My guess would be that this is your problem, especially if you live in a colder climate or if you have had other issues that led to your battery being drained (you left your lights on, alternator ect) If your battery comes back as bad/not holding a charge, then that should be your issue. If the battery is okay, then you have a drain somewhere in the electrical system. This is more often than not in some aftermarket component, so if you have an aftermarket radio or sound setup, have that checked out. Otherwise you could probably inspect the battery cables as well, but this is a PITA with this car since the battery is in the trunk. Good luck
Car battery go dead after two days if don't drive it
This means you have a short which is draining power. The first thing would to be to test the charging system in the car. Many autoparts stores like autozone, oreilys, and advance will test for free.
There is a part inside the Alternator called a Diode. It is important to test this. Sometimes Relays stick and discharge when your car is turned off. It is a little easier to understand if you realize that turning the ignition key to run your car is activating main relays and secondary relays to connect everything. When the car is shut off, all of the connections need to cleanly break connections that would keep a function going.
Turns over but will not start
Often this is a Inertia switch that has disconnected power to the fuelpump. It has a reset button on it. It is located either in the trunk next to the Air-ride control or in the cabin around the front floor kick panels.
Codes p2104,p2107, p2110,p2112
Hey Robert,
Sorry to hear you're having problems.
The code in short are below:
P2104 Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Idle
P2106 Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Limited Power
P2111 Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open
P2112 Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed
You have contradicting codes which indicates you need a new TP sensor and throttle body. On some models these are one unit and on some they are not.
Here is my best advice. If your TP is serviceable and separate replace the TP and try it. ALSO take down your VIN # and call the local dealer - ask about RECALLS on these and also -any other recalls. Recalls go with the truck for the life of the truck not with the owner. Also check for any service bulletins that are associated with your vehicle. Many engines are used in Lincolns so you will have the advantage of more of these being made which will effect price. I am not saying buy the part from the dealer just pick their brain and also check for recalls which are fixed for free. Many owners save thousands checking on the recalls before doing the repairs themselves.
In closing - some vehicles must be reset with a code common to that vehicle - some only require you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes.
Either way - I suggest you install a new TP [ throttle position ] unit and remove the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. If of course your unit must be reset by the FORD/LINCOLN code unit - you will need to have this done or acquire one [ renting one is an option with some parts houses but not many and non I personally know of.
I think this will get you done and done right even tho it is not cheap.
Best of it
RICE
I have trouble codes p0430, p0301,p0316, p2195 and
PO-430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
PO-0301 Should be a misfire on COP Coil #1
PO-316 Misfire Occured in the First 1000 Engine Revolutions
P-2195 Lack of HO2-11 Switch/Lean
P2197 Lack of HO2-21
I have the same vehicle,only a V8
What you have is a very common ford problem. The Ignition Coil on Cylinder #1 is Bad. You can buy it at the local auto part store and change yourself. About $59.00. You remove the coil cover on top of the valve covers, then the coil. I did one in Feb and believe all you need is a 7mm wrench and 7mm socket. #1 should be at the front of engine/pass side.
The other codes are related and you can see if any are there, after you do the coil replacement. If so give them to me.
I have a code P0430 on a Lincoln after changings
P0430 is Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2).
A code P0430 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
- The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
- An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
- There is an exhaust leak
First, inspect for exhaust leaks.
Next step is to measure the voltage at the oxygen sensor on Bank 2. In fact, it would be a good idea to test each oxygen sensor while you're at it.
Overheating
You need to find out if the leak is internal or external to the engine. There is a tool called a Radiator pressure checker and it works similar to a bicycle pump. Special fittings replace the radiator cap and you observe the pressure rating of the system when you add pressure.
If the leak is significant this test will spill the antifreeze from the leak. In difficult cases, an additive leak detection chemical can be added to detect a leak with an UV light.
If not successful you will need to pressurize the system and observe for pressure drop. This would mean the leak is internal like a bad head gasket. At best, you can diagnose which side (bank) of the engine needs to have its head gasket replaced by removing the spark plugs and cranking the engine to spray out the antifreeze from the problem cylinder. Again, a chemical dye and UV light would be helpful.
My lincoln ls 2004 v6 is overheating
You definitely have air in the cooling system. The only way to purge the air is letting it run and cracking the bleeder several times. It must be completely full of coolant and at normal operating temperatures when you bleed it. You have to be patient and can sometimes take cracking the bleeder 4 or 5 times to get all the air out. In our shop, we normally let vehicles run for 30-45 minutes minimum to ensure we have all the air bled out. One quick note, those engines DO NOT like to be run hot and are very unforgiving when they do. Beware of cracked heads or blown head gaskets.
