97 Lincoln Contiental drivers door ajar message stays on what can i do? Can I remove the door jam sensors or door ajar warning relay? If I can where exactly are the located
It is a sticky sensor in the door latch mechanism. Spray it w/ WD-40 and follow up with a dose of silicone spray. Open/close doors several times and it should be ok. If you have a problem with 1 door the other 3 are sure to follow---DO THIS TO ALL 4 DOORS!!!!!!!!!

When I start the car the check traction control light comes on. I hear some noise from the front right side of the car and then it stops. Has wnyone had this problem &/or any information on the cause/corrective actions? Thanks
I can't give you an explanation for why the car is telling you to check trac. control but i can try to give some help on maybe fixing it. Try - turning on the car, turn the traction control off, turn the car off, turn the car on. Then turn the traction control back on and push the system check button. That should i guess "reset" the trac control system.
Now the noise from the front right of the car is MOST LIKELY the air compressor pumping air into the bags. (i own a 97 Continental but i've never had a problem witht the trac control)

The hood latch cable is broken or disconnected, how do I get the hood open to repair
if you can't pull cable under dash, need to access from under front of car. Try to pull cable or remove 2 screws holding latch on.

My mechanic didn't turn off air suspension switch while working on my 1997 Continental. now rear is low rides worse than a tank. What is the best way to diagnose the problem. Certainly there can be a million problems but what are the best steps to take? First Check ?, Then ? Then?
It sounds to me like you have a hole or cracks in your airbag. The dealership typically diagnoses it as the compressor but that is only to keep you coming back and wasting more money on something that will never truly be fixed. The airbag is the problem now but the compressor has to work extra hard because it is like blowing up a balloon with a hole in it. Therefor the airbag will kill the compressor. I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. This is a PERMANENT fix. I added the link below so you can check it out.

I hope I was of some help
Good Luck!!!

car wont start think the fuel shut off switch needs to be reset in the 97 lincoln continental. the switch is located in the trunk.
just press the button to reset it. Per your owner manual. Should only trip in an accident.
WHen you turn on the key, can you hear the fuel pump run for 5 seconds. The pump is in the fuel tank. listen there while someone turns the key on. report back.

my 97 continental is a 6 seat model without the middle console. How do I remove the proper parts to get to it! Thanks
are you sure it is not the temp control on the heater control panel that's bad?
please rate if this solves your issue.
A/C Electronic Blend Door Actuator
The A/C electronic blend door actuator is located on the rear of the A/C evaporator housing assembly.

Start car, comes up to temp, turn heater on and only cold air comes out, after about 10 minutes temp gauge goes to hot, get coolant temp alarm, stays hot for a 2-5 minutes, then the needle starts dropping and a few seconds later the air starts coming out hot. After a bit, the air will stop coming out hot, then shortly after that, the car starts to overheat again. It keeps repeating this cycle. The dealer replaced the thermostat twice. (First time was after it overheated. This weird overheating cycle thing started after the first repair.) After the second time, I just removed it. Still having this strange problem. (They also replaced the pressure cap for the reservoir...I'm also a little bit concerned this may have some contribution/cause. Wrong rating??? Vapor lock???)
A pre-existing problem that may or may not be related. Heater/front defroster would come on periodically. Been that way for almost the life of the car. The dealer never figured it out.
I'm really frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No, bad thermostat.

1997 Lincoln Continental Fuses... Need to know which fuses are for what in my 1997 Lincoln Continental. There are two fuse boxes. The fuse box under the hood I know what they all are, but the one under the dash is what I need to know about. I don't have anything telling me which fuse goes where, what goes where, etc. Please and thank you! This is my only transportation...
go to motorcraft.com, pro center, tech info, owner manual, fuses in index.
I may have an owner manual if interested. It would be $5 plus $1.50 postage.
Please rate highly if this helps.
PS What is the issue?
