Removal of driver side front power window regulator

The cable on my window partially broke and became frayed and so doesn't work anymore. I need to remove and replace the regulator but since I can't really see inside the door very well, I'm not sure exactly what to do. I have a Chilton's manual but it mostly just says to remove the bolts and retainer. I don't know where these are located or what they might look/feel like in there. If anybody has some type of schematic or a walk-through it would be very helpful.

you have to replace your window regulator. to do this you have to remove the 7 rivets holding the regulator, the window motor and window. first, take a punch and pop the centers out of rivets. then drill them out. this will allow you to remove old parts. then reverse the process. you will need special rivets from Ford and a large rivet gun.

There is a way to permanately fix the solution to air ride suspension- get rid of them. Go online and there are several companies selling parts to replace everything you need- or do the smart thing and take them out and replace them with lifetime shocks. You can convert your car for a fraction of the price and never have to deal with them again.

I am sooo glad I did it on my car. It rides just as smooth too. Also, you don't have to worry about eroding boots, failing compressors/pumps, etc.

Suncore Industries is who I used and the things have been champ for 3 years running. And for only $249.00. No I don't work there!

Try clearing the codes & see if it returns. I do not see a code fault 10. Starts at 12.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Section 01-20B: Restraints, Passive — Supplemental Air Bag System 1995 Town Car, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis Workshop Manual DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING Diagnostic Trouble Code Clearing Procedure to Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes from Diagnostic Monitor Non-Volatile Random Access Memory.
Normal Operation
The air bag diagnostic monitor (14B056) continually checks the air bag system for readiness. When a fault condition is detected, the DTC associated with that fault is stored in the air bag diagnostic monitor's Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM). After writing the DTC to NVRAM, the air bag diagnostic monitor signals the fault by flashing the appropriate diagnostic trouble code on the air bag indicator. The diagnostic trouble code written to NVRAM is permanently stored in the air bag diagnostic monitor until cleared by the diagnostic trouble code clearing procedure.

  • Upon each cycle of the ignition switch (11572) , the air bag diagnostic monitor checks for diagnostic trouble codes written in NVRAM. If any diagnostic trouble codes exist in NVRAM, the air bag diagnostic monitor will then check to see if these fault conditions are still present.
  • If the conditions of the diagnostic trouble code in NVRAM are still present, then the air bag diagnostic monitor will use the air bag indicator to flash out the diagnostic trouble code number that was written in memory.
  • If the conditions of the diagnostic trouble code are not still present (indicating an intermittent or serviced fault), the air bag diagnostic monitor will use the air bag indicator to flash out a DTC which is the sum of the diagnostic trouble code in NVRAM plus 40.
Example: Due to corrosion, high resistance develops on the driver side air bag circuit. The air bag diagnostic monitor stores a diagnostic trouble code 32 in NVRAM. Upon each cycle of the ignition switch , the air bag diagnostic monitor checks the resistance of the driver air bag circuit.
  • If the resistance is still high, the air bag diagnostic monitor causes the air bag indicator to flash out a DTC 32.
  • If the resistance falls within the normal range due to service or an intermittent condition, the air bag diagnostic monitor causes DTC 72 to be flashed on the air bag indicator.
Once a fault has been serviced, the associated diagnostic trouble code may be cleared from NVRAM. Only diagnostic trouble codes that the air bag diagnostic monitor sees as repaired or intermittent may be cleared (diagnostic trouble codes 52 and above). In no circumstances can hard fault conditions (diagnostic trouble codes 45 and below) be cleared.
  1. Follow the diagnostic procedures as outlined to service the fault condition flashing on the air bag indicator.
  1. Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then to RUN.
  1. Observe air bag indicator prove-out (six ± two seconds) followed by diagnostic trouble code (52-85) flashing completely one time.
  1. Locate the Diagnostic "Trouble Code Clear" Connector located underneath the glove compartment (06010) containing Circuits 631 (T/R) and 57 (BK).
  1. Use a jumper wire to short Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK) or to another good ground. This short must be made after the diagnostic trouble code flashes completely one time, but before the warning light stays on continuously.
  1. Hold short until air bag diagnostic monitor tone sounds (approximately five seconds).
  1. Release short on Circuit 631 (TAN/RED STRIPE) to Circuit 57 (BLACK). This short must be released within 25 seconds after the diagnostic monitor tone sounds. Diagnostic trouble code is now cleared from NVRAM. Next highest priority diagnostic trouble code stored in NVRAM (if one exists) will begin flashing.

1998 Lincoln Town Car: No turn signals, 4 way flash, brake lights

These things don't work with engine running:

1. Turn signals lights and no clicking in car
2. 4 way flashers lights no clicking in car
3. Brake lights on the tail lights (The middle light at the bottom of the rear window lights up when the brake is depressed.)
4. The turn signals were intermittently working before this problem showed up like a few weeks before the problem. I can't remember exactly what it was but the turn signal clicking in the car was slow or fast or different someway. I assumed I had a bad turn signal light.

These things do work:
1. head lights, tail lights, parking lights
2. All auxillary stuff in the car

What I have looked at:
1. Checked all the fuses, visually pulled them all, under dash and under the hood
2. Cleaned the battery posts
3. Wiggled the turn signal switch around

Is there anyway to get a wiring schematic of this car for free?
Your help would be wonderful. I would like to get today back to do something. Thanks, Bill

If only your brake light in middle of rear window works then your other bulbs are bad. If brake lights all work in the back than bulbs are good. If you put turn signal on right or left and the bulbs light in front and back then you need to change multifunction light control box under dash. My understanding is it cost $600 new. So I would try used.

If your talking about the heater pipe and hose under the intake....(to ease removal you can remove the inlet air cowl/wipers/etc.) remove upper intake/coils/fuel line etc. the tube is bolted to the back of the RT head...replace the entire tube/hose assemble....IF the tube at the frt of the block is corroded/damaged/etc. you will need to replace that also (remove waterpump for access and installation)...change you T/Stat at this time also....hope this helped you...GL

Is there a way to reset the code or change it? or am I doing something wrong? also my trunk will not pop with the key remote. and will not unlock or lock unless I'm 5 feet from the car.. which isn't a big deal but I know they usually work from a much larger distance.
