Turn Key and Loses Power

Hello, When a vehicle goes completely dead if a large drain is placed on the electrical system, such as starting it, the problem usually lies either at the battery connections or where the cables connect to the vehicle. Slamming the door repeatedly is probably just jarring the loose connection back and forth. Start with this, usually the fix to a big problem is smaller than you think.

What switch and where is the switch that keeps the starter from engaging on the car

the car is in 10 years old now has the starter ever been replaced I do not believe there is a switch I'm not big on hyundai though the starter itself is probably bad if it has been replaced yet but if you want to reset your system battery for 10 minutes

Car will not turn over but all the lights work

there is a switch that prevents the starter from engaging at certain times. (stick shift wont work without clutch pushed all the way down) (automatic wont work unless in park or neutral). ensure that clutch is pressed or transmission fully in park. the switch could also be bad, but is easy to replace.

Hyundai sonata 2004 electric problem, any suggestions?

The three circuits you mentioned get power from different sources. So it would have to be a point where they meet before the fuses, or a ground connection problem. It should be possible to trace the circuits back to the problem with the right wiring diagrams. You may need a shop manual to do it.

Trying to locate a short in my 2004 hyundai sonata, any suggestions?

It won't be a "Short" if the fuses don't blow. You state the Wipers don't work, then further down you say they do, makes it hard to give advise if you're not accurate. Without seeing the vehicle, I'd be leaning towards a loose Earth connection somewhere.

Car parking lights don't come on sometimes.

I'd look real close at the contacts on rotary switch that's the combo turn signal/running lights/headlights switch. I had that with a car I used to have. The contacts got hot, and the plastic behind the contacts melted back, leaving the contacts unsupported.

Cranks but wont start

Without knowing for sure whether you have the 4 or 6 cylinder model I can only offer general "no start" diagnostics guidance.Things to consider....the car is a 2004. Has the timing belt ever been replaced? How many miles are on the car - more than 60000?When you crank the engine, does it crank at what sounds to be a normal rate or it is faster than usual? The first thing I suspect when an older model car goes no-start is the timing belt. It can break or simply shear off some teeth and jump time. Either one will result in a no-start condition. The timing belt is one item that must religiously be replaced according to manufacturer's guidelines. The reason is that it the belt fails, in many cases it will result in severe internal engine damage and high repair cost. If the belt has broken completely, the engine should turn over very fast as there is no resistance from the camshaft. If it simply jumped time, it may seem to crank normally.
