1995 Hyundai Elantra - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Hyundai Elantra 1995 how do I adjust petrol revs ? show detail
On most modern engines the engine speed is controlled by the ECM, (Engine Control Module). To alter the revs the vehicle will need to be plugged into a specialist software setup to alter the tuning of the vehicle.
Why do you need to alter the Revs? If they have changed a lot there will be a reason for it. Are you getting any warning lights on the dashboard? What exactly is the vehicle doing? If there is a big change in the revs you possibly need to get it plugged into a diagnostic system or an OBD2 scanner to check for trouble codes. If you need to pay for this service get prices at 4 or 5 garages as prices can be Very different!

I had my head done
If the manufacturer has added this procedure, it is probably because they have seen failures. I would do the extra torquings. They only take about an hour, if you have the tools. Youmust use a torque wrench. Remove the air intake hose, as necessary.Remove the rocker arm center cover.Label and remove the spark plug wires.Remove the breather and PCV hoses.Remove the upper timing belt cover.Remove the rocker cover. Tighten head bolts to proper torque specification in sequence shown below. 65-72 ft. lbs. (90-100 Nm).
Install the rocker cover.
Fig. Fig. 9: Apply a 0.4 in. (10 mm) bead of Three Bond No. 1212Dor equivalent sealant to each end of the rocker coveras illustrated-except 1.5L (VIN E), 1.5L (VIN J) and 3.0L (VIN P) engine.
Fig. Fig. 10: Rocker cover bolts are of different lengths.Bolts marked as (*) are 25 mm long. Bolts markedas (**) are 20 mm long. Bolts marked as (***) are 15 mm long

Asked this on 12/20 no response so asking again.
Hi,My 1999 Elantra has a similar problem with the turn signal, I checked the switch itself and it worked fine, eventually I found out that it was the hazard switch that is faulty, to test it try and turn your car on, activate turn signal and press down on the top of the hazard switch or just fiddle with it. Just a thought, worked with mine. Good luck.

HYUNDAI ELANTRA J2 CUTS PETROL AND COULD NOT PICK UP ON 2000 REVS
The
following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any
electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.
The
engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only
for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the
transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in
most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory
of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as
the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done
is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system
for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for
engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained
technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then
based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the
correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer
replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other
basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with
the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine.
The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear
engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related
problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many
drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

You can look the information up in the owners manual under capacities interestingly enough. If you don't have the OM go here and download it, it is free. Once you register there are free factroy repair manuals as well.

That would be a question to ask an engine rebuilder in your area. Parts costs and labor rates vary WAY too much for anyone to answer that question over the world-wide web!

Very low miles 1995 Hyundai ELANTRA
1800 cc 16
If the timing belt keeps breaking and bending valves, the timing belt and cylinder head repair is not being done correctly. It's as simple as that. Are you changing the tensioner and idler pullies when replacing the belt? Is it timed correctly? Was the timing belt tension adjusted properly? Were the cam journals checked for damage? If not, you are asking for another belt failure.
If you want to know why the check engine light is coming on, you will have to ask your engine computer. Every time the light comes on it is storing a fault code to tell you why. You must scan your engine control module to retrieve the fault code(s) so you can get it properly diagnosed and repaired.
