2006 Saturn L300 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Electrical problems
It's a "BCM" issue. Body control module. think of a "BCM" as a computer for the interior electrical aspects of the car. If you have the proper scan tool (Tech II) and the skill scan the "BCM" for error codes. Post the codes and I'll tell you how to fix it. If you don't have a scan tool or the skill take the car to a dealer or qualified mechanic.
Triton not shifting gear
This is an indication that the TCM is not function properly As it is an automatic the gears in constant mesh with gear changes being effected by clutch packs and bands so the ratios are always correct just the selection is not working properly./ Hence the TCM fault.
Gas smell in car
I had a Buick Rendezvous that did this. Turned out if was the neck of the gas tank breaking away from car. It was a factory recall, but not before I paid to have it done. Look for problems on your car online and see if any mention this same problem. There may be a problem of which you are not aware.
Hello I have a saturn
Take your car to Autozone and they will run a code checker to tell you what the problem is and what it will take to fix it.
I have a saturn L300
P0174 basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 2 detected a lean condition
(too much oxygen in the exhaust). Bank 2 is generally
the side of the engine that doesn't have cylinder #1. P0171 means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition
(too much oxygen in the exhaust). Bank 1 is the side of
the engine that has cylinder #1.
A code P0171 and P0174 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
* There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
The possible solutions include:
- In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
- Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
- Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure
About P0421 code, this means that the oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic converter
on bank 1 is detecting that the converter is not working as efficiently as it
should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system; also, P0431 means that the oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic converter on bank 2 is detecting that the converter is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system.
A code P0421 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
* An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
* A sparkplug is fouled up
To sove it, measure the voltage at the oxygen sensor on Bank 1 (the rear sensor, or the sensor after the converter). In fact, it would be a good idea to test each oxygen O2 sensor while you're at it.
One thing to note is that many vehicle manufacturers offer a longer warranty on emissions-related parts. So if you have a newer car but it's out of it's bumper-to-bumper warranty, there still may be warranty on this type of problem. Many manufacturers give a five year, unlimited mileage warranty on these items. It's worth checking into.

transmission shifter does not
Almost all newer cars have a safety that won't allow you to shift without a foot on the brake. These are either cable or electric solenoid activated. They fail, so check your owners manual, as it will have the procedure to get it to shift, untill you can get it fixed correctly.
Do i have to remove
- 1 Remove the fuel filler cap from the gas tank to relieve any built-up pressure in the tank.
2 Look under the center console
for the fuel pump relay. You will see a box with 12 fuses. The relay is
clearly labeled with a "- 10 -". Switch off the relay fuse.
3 Start the engine and wait for it
to stall. This will tell you when all the pressure has been relieved in
the fuel system and the fuel within the pump lines is completely used
up.
4 Remove the negative cable from the battery terminal with a socket wrench.
5 Siphon all remaining fuel from the fuel tank with a fuel siphon.
6 Raise the 2000 Saturn with a jack. Lower the vehicle onto jack stands.
7 Remove the rubber grommet around the top of the fill pipe. Use a socket wrench to remove the screw under the grommet.
8 Disconnect the fuel tank sensor and fuel pump unit. These two wires are located under the car , just above the fuel tank.
9 Disconnect the fill pipe with a socket wrench. Use a ratchet to release the clamps.
10 Remove the fill pipe. It should slide off once the clamps are removed.
11 Disconnect the filter/pressure regulator, which is located near the fuel tank, and slide it out of the way.
12 Support the fuel tank on a wood
block using the floor jack to hold it in position directly under the
tank. This will prevent the tank from falling and cracking.
13 Remove the retaining straps holding the tank in position with a socket wrench. Carefully lower the tank.
14 Hammer the lock ring on top of
the fuel tank loose with a brass punch. Do this carefully to avoid
damaging the piece, tapping the ring counterclockwise.
15 Pull the old assembly out of the tank and set the new one inside.
16 Reassemble the fuel tank and secure it back onto the 2000 Saturn.
17 Raise the Saturn above the jack
stands. Remove the stands and lower the vehicle to the ground. Reconnect
the negative cable to the battery. Switch on the fuel pump relay fuse.
Close the hood.
Willreplacing the battery help the life of the
Check to see if you have a short circuit when the vehicle is off. At night with vehicle off, remove negative cable from battery. Lightly touch it back on and off. If you see a spark, you might have a short that is draining your battery. If you have a clock or under hood light you will see a small spark but if it's really noticable likely a short. If no large spark, likely battery is b/o and that is hard on your altenator and starter. Replace as soon as possible
How do you change the flasher on a 2002 saturn
should be a cylindrical or cubical relay in your fuse box, some vehicles have them elsewhere on the wiring harness accessible behind dashboard; owner's manual or shop manual will have details..
I have a service wrench
Forget the dealer
You get a check light.leave it,and go to a shop to scan it for the code. Then have them diagnose from there and repair.
You have system malfunctions on both vehicles.

Ireplaced my battery and didnt
Sir, you will have to go to a GM dealer with proof of ownership and picture ID and they can get you the code. They may want to charge you to tell you how to do it. Sorry but thats what has to be done, I don't think a radio shop can do it.
Car stopped running, engine light on the dash was on about 200 mi
there is no way to know for sure without some troubleshooting and since your engine light is lit which im assuming is the check engine light you can have someone with an obd scanner pull the codes and go from there that is pretty much your only option at this point
