Why the car shutoff while driving

First thing to check is that the cam shaft is still turning ( broken timing belt/ chain). Check battery terminals are clean and tight as a broken circuit will shut down the immobiliser . Run fault codes to check for sensor problems.

My car won't start in the cold weather. I don not have Power Locks or Power Windows. What is the Problem?

That sounds like a battery issue. Batteries have whats called CCA (cold cranking amps) it is the main thing to pay attention to. This is a measure of how much current the battery can provide at 0 deg F. Batteries work better when they are warm, so the colder it gets, the less current it can provide.

Starting an engine requires a lot of current, over a very short time. Meanwhile, cold engines are harder to start, requiring more power to get them going. So look at your battery and its CCA and since u said u bought the car a few years ago. You probably didnt replace the battery yet have u? Batteries usually have a life of 4-6 yrs only. Hope this helped

Scary, the rear leans into a gentle turn or toward the low side of a slanted road

Check the struts. The struts usually contain both the spring and the shocks. One way to check them is bounce the car with your body weight by standing on the bumper. It should resist bouncing and if it bounces or drops right down, replace that strut. IT could also be a sway bar that is loose or missing. To check this you need to get under the vehicle and look for a bar that extends across the back of the vehicle by the wheels.

Brake peddle is chattering 2003 ion and would like

If brake pedal is chattering or pulsating it is most likely because you need either front or rear rotors, or both. They are rusted or out of round. If there is something wrong with either your abs or traction control, the abs or traction control light will come on & stay on. As soon as these lights come on, it automatically disables abs or traction control. If you would like to take out fuse that disables abs or traction control circuits, it will leave the lights on.You just wont have their functions. If by some strange condition your chattering goes away, then there is indeed something wrong with your abs or traction control.Fuses are labeled abs or traction either under hood or in your fuse panel in car.

Saturn Ion running loud and rough

Check for other loose heat shields. The shield you removed would allow more noise to enter the cabin too.

Timming chain broke

place no 1 piston at TDC compression stroke. There are procedures for the timing of the balance shafts but if it is only the timing chain I will go to that Align uniquely coloured chain link with intake camshaft sprocket timing mark-- INT--. ( this will be pointing at the 2 o'clock position) install timing chain and sprocket as an assembly align first matching coloured chain link crankshaft timing mark (5 o'clock position) align the second matching coloured chain link with exhaust cam shaft timing mark--EXH ( at the 11 o'clock position There is a special procedure to reset the balance tensioner and it is different to the timing chain procedure. To reset cam shaft timing chain tensioner push piston fully and turn clockwise until locked Once the tensioner has been compressed ensure the distance from end to end is 2.83 inches . If not repeat the resetting process vehicles 30.000 miles the tensioner is released when the engine is first started . In vehicles over 30.000 miles manually release tensioner by tapping the plunger Note cam shaft and crank shaft sprockets bolts MUST only be used once. If you want details on the balancer chain procedure then make a comment in the box use tension wrench and a degree gauge cam bolts are tensioned to 63 ft lbs + 30 degrees crank shaft pulley is tensioned to 74 ft lbs + 75 degrees

Car backfire smoke and spark came out tail pipe

! Your injectors are floading the engine with too much gas. may be an injector stuck open, but not all of the fuel is burning in the engine and its running into the exhaust system, A hot catalytic converter ignites the excess fuel causing it to ignite and spark out your tail pipe. It can cause a huge fire. Dont drive it until its fixed.
