1993 Saturn SC1 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a 99 saturn sc1...165000 miles. Runs great.
The codes do not necessarily indicate any failed parts. You have to troubleshoot the system to figure out why the light is coming on. It might just be a loose wire somewhere. What codes have you been getting?

2001 Saturn sl fan not working wiring not relaying
The line is continuity... it completes the ground signal back to the pcm. Then the fan is turned on. Problem most likely, connector needs replaces going to sensor... common problem. Be watchful when placing new connector on once you have spliced the new one on, since there is only one way that it fits in and might cause damage if forced in the wrong way.

1993 Saturn Ignition Problem
If you pull the ignition switch you should be able to turn it with a screwdriver and either startor turn off the car. If the switch won't turn than the switch is the problem.
If the switch turns and the new lock cylinder still won't turn than you need a new lock cylinder housing. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

Rear brake line diagram
There never has been what you wantOnly a rough or partial schematic of braketubing, is ever in a factory service manualOnly if you intend to work on your own vehicles, would you get involved in replacing rusted brake tubing & then you just duplicate what is there, that needs replacing.

How to change spark plugs
The spark plugs are located under the four spark plug wires that go through the middle of the valve cover on top of the engine. With a twisting motion, remove the plug wires from the spark plugs. Then using a 5/8 inch spark plug socket and inch extension on a 3/8 inch ratchet, remove the spark plugs. Gap the new plugs to the correct gap (located on the label on the underside of the hood), and in stall into the holes in the valve cover using only your hand to get them started, then tightening with the ratchet. Then reinstall the wires back to their original locations, and you are finished.....

Saturn 2000 SC1 failed emission test high NOX, put
I'd change fuel filter, get it low on fuel. Add a bottle of rite aid 100% rubbing alcohol. Nothing fancy. Nothing scented or colored.Add it and fill up your tank of gas.I've done this with old cars and trucks. Most recent was my 77 for highboy. Emmissions guy said it's emmissions were lower then most cars he saw! Let alone and old crappy ford.If it were my car I'd drive it hard the whole way there. This may or maynot break loose carbon buildup in your cats, which will also help. By drive hard I mean higher Rpm then usuall. Don't race it, or drive dangerous. Just trying to get *** much pressure buildup in the exhaust to knock some of that **** out of there.( been building cars for 10 years daily. You'd be suprised what little things will do to help) goodluck to you.

1998 sl1 oil in water
If you have oil in your coolant then your head gasket is blown. Be careful, and don't let it fully overheat because you will warp your head and have to buy an entire engine.

I have a ticking sound in the engine.the maechanic
Honestly those engines are a dime a dozen, my local pick apart has a bunch of them-my 99 saturn has 180,000 miles on it and it uses oil (they all do, it seems)-change your oil, religiously, and if it doesn't leak, use synthetic-you can use 10w-30 instead of 5w-30, and make sure you use a good oil filter, like a Puralator PureOne or a K&N, Bosch-one with an anti-drainback valve. If it runs well, you should get lots more miles out of it, a good rebuild will cost upwards of $1700 but you can get a good used engine for as little as $200 if you look around. Just don't let it run low on oil, the rings are a bad design and cause binding which causes oil consumption, and eventual wear and failure.
