Left key in ignition overnight

  • Well you car battery is probably good and dead now then. You can try a couple things.
  1. First thing is to try and have someone jump start your car. If the battery is new enough this alone might work. When the jumper cables are on let them be for five full minutes to get the best out of the jump attempt. If this does not work then on to option two.
  2. Take your battery out and to a parts store to try and charge it or buy a car battery charger and set the battery to charge. When the charger indicates the battery is at capacity then re-install in the car and try to start it up. Unless the battery is very old option two usually works. If neither work then a new battery will be needed.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

What is the good battery

Interstate makes a good replacement battery. Be aware that the Cayenne turbo uses a water cooled alternator that fails and appears good, but drains the battery over a night or two. This brilliant design also takes out the waterpump when the alternator bearings disintegrate and spit metal bits into the coolant that ruins the waterpump seal. It took me two waterpumps and a new battery to learn this little gem.

Replacing rear brake light bulb

Carefully remove the two trim plugs from each tail light assembly with a small knife blade. Remove the two hex head bolts on each assembly. Insert a small paint stir stick (soft wood won't damage paint) between the fender and the tail light assembly. Gently pull the opposite (inside) side of the assembly off. The paint stick allow the assembly to pop off the ball and socket pin holding the outside part of the assembly in place. Unplug the power plug by releasing the retainer clip. Unscrew the large black plastic nuts on the back of the assembly with a very large screwdriver, if they can't be turned by hand, and remove. Replace burned out bulb/s and reassemble in reverse order. Remember the trim plugs have two prongs on them. Position them with the prongs and the direct top and bottom and press into place.
