Can I turn off the Trunk Open warning that is stuck on, on my dashboard?
Hello,
The obvious action to take would be to trace down the component that has failed/shorted/ etc and replace it/fix it so the light on the dash goes out properly. If you have done something like this already to no avail then you could try taking out the corresponding bulb in the instrument cluster itself. You may need to remove the cluster but the bulbs tend to come out pretty easily. I never recommend and am not currently recommending anyone ever take out any bulbs in the cluster as it can be misleading especially upon resale. But for daily driving purposes and convenience, ill throw that option on the table.. Hope this helps
Car doesnt want to start after starting few minutes ago
Right discoinnect the battery then leave for half hour ,join the battery leads together with a bit of electrical wire ,then try again ,i have found that these later cars suffer from interference caused by a mobile phone lleft in the centre consul ,why i have no idea but it be something by the wiring being or having a bus line where a communial signal is sent down a wire to recievers on each unit which are activated by the frequency modulated signal ,If you can understand this jargon ,i have a earlier 94 XJ6 4litre and never have a problem but then its my sunday car as the price of petrol here in spain is not cheap
Heavy gas smell on 2000 jaguar vanden plas
check for a bad fuel filter or a leaking rubber line after the fuel pump . To dump that much fuel so quickly ,the fuel pump is pumping to a broken /split hose or steel line.
Car is whining when in
check your transmission fluid, if low fill it and see if it still whines if so you have a ****** problem
Just replaced timing chain and now no start.tries
Sounds like the timing is off. Doubl echeck all your work to make sure all your timing marks are lined up correctly. You might try loosening the distributor and turn it slightly in both directions while someone sits in the car and turns the ingnition key. If your timing is only slightly off, this may get the engine started.
Engine won't start on Jaguar XJ8 Vandenplas TRAC NOT AVAILABLE
hey blackdiam522,
First did you have a check engine light, and do you know what the code was if you did?
Ok, the traction control not available isnt goin to affect the car from starting.During my year of a jaguar tech the most common for a crank, no start is a flooded engine. Now the two most causes for a flooded engine on these jags are 1. the weather is just super cold and all the own does is keep cranking the car to try to get to start. 2. A lot of short trip, a lot of city driving, 15 mins or less.
When you get something like this, a no start crank, you have to pump the gas pedal really fast, like your starting an oil muscle car. this forces more air into the engine.
when this no start happend u could get all these codes, what i maybe would recommend is a tune up, and some highway driving every once and a while to kept this from happening again, hopefully this helps, thanks.
How to do a timing
Timing is going to be non-adjustable as far as the ignition is concerned. Are you refering to the timing chain? If so, this "should" be good for the life of the engine. If there is a performance issue, I can help diagnose it. Let me know and I will continue to help.
Battery may be dead... not really sure what the
There should be a plus for positive, typically a red wire or red cover going to it. The negative should have a minus. The battery is a large plastic "box" which will be approximately 8" tall by 5" wide by about 10" long. It is possibly hidden in your car, very likely in the trunk or deep in the fire wall. There will likely be some "posts" for jumping it located away from the battery. Your best bet if your not positive would be to call a Jag dealer, ask for the service dept. and ask them where it is or what the procedure is for jumping your car. If you still have the owners manual, It should be clearly listed there.
