I have a 1988 Jaguar

If the engine turns over it is not likely an ignition switch. Can you hear the fuel pump kick on? Is there spark at the distributor cap? My thought leans towards either a bum fuel pump or ignition amplifier (ignition module). If you would like a manual to aid in testing, let me know.

1997 Jarguar. Code P0303. Missfire

Code info from:
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0303

Cylinder #3 Misfire Detected
What does that mean?

A P0303 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #3.
FB.init("dd7d9e9681341cde77587bc6a2029f6f"); OBD-Codes.com on Facebook Symptoms Symptoms may include:

  • the engine may be harder to start
  • the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
  • other symptoms may also be present
Causes

A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • Defective computer
Possible Solutions

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic convertermag-glass_10x10.gif has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

1992 jaguar vandreplas in limpe

This is caused usually by either multiple fault codes triggered or one(s) of a serious nature. You will need to make contact with a garage or dealer that can successfully read these and hopefully clear them.Any that don't clear will need repair in those areas, others that cleared should at least be inspected for obvious signs of fault,or make note of for later in case they return.Sometimes the fault can be in the ECU or the loom to it.check for dampness around it and poor connection in ecu loom plugs and its earth.I hope that this is of some help to you in getting to the source and repair.

Hi, from your description it sounds like you have a wheel bearing problem in the rear of the car. It is common to have one or both wheel bearings fail causing a whirring type noise like the one you are hearing.

Actually there is a plastic clip which holds the rod to the latch which breaks you may find it at any auto parts store in the HELP section or ask for assistance. It takes longer to take door cover off then to replace the clip.

My car has electrical problems.

This is called limp mode.
The TCM (tranny control module) usually stores error codes and can be scanned to find out why the tranny is in limp mode.
Sometimes the In and Output speed sensor causes this problem but your speedometer would likely not work right.
A bad ground from battery to tranny could cause this.
Another cause is the rear transmission mount fails and puts stress on the wiring loom causing it to fail. Fix is to replace the mount and the loom
