There is help to reset, but you probably need an auto electrician or a local place that installs alarms and remote starters. How did you check code's ? OBD2 scan tool ? There are more computers on your vehicle then just the PCM/ECM - engine computer . BCM - body control module , Air bag module , ABS - anti-lock brakes , instrument cluster etc.... Need a factory scan tool or someother professional type scan tool to read these codes. If the check engine (SES) light is on code's are stored in one of these other modules . Your best bet mite be to have a qualified repair shop check it out .(not dealer )

Sounds like you should take it to a qualified repair shop. You don't have any automotive diagnostic skills . for the engine light to come on there will be codes stored It is that the mechanic is not using the correct scanner with the right protocol installed to read them

to many reasons your in limp mode have scanned for trouble code --problems can be from the weather --check oil level --transmission and coolant level --a bad coil- plug -frozen fuel line -water in fuel etc

How old is your battery? If you get a jump to start your car and it works then your batter is on it's last legs. You can charge a battery but if it does not have the required cold cranking amps (CCA) it will not turn over. If you can get your car started I recommend that you go to any battery shop like NAPA or Interstate and they can check your CCA. If your CCA is too low even with a full charge you need to replace your battery.

You will find there under "repair guides" some basic info and several engine or parts R&R (detailed) procedures, for taking the engine apart or timing chain work like you want. It's a long way from a service manual, more like a condensed version of a Chilton manual (which I think may be where the information originates). I assume you are taking about an automatic transmission. There are 2 main reasons why this is not working. 1 The transmission oil is overdue to be charged. 2 There is a leak on one of the galleries inside the gearbox.

Most likely you have a door switch or hood/ trunk reading open. Check them first.

Rather then looking for a magical fix on here ,take it to a qualified repair shop an have it checked while it is making the noise . Without hearing it we would only be guessing .

Most likely problem is the neutral safety switch coming apart. There may be additional problems. Get a scan of the computer and post the trouble codes.
