Hi, i have a mist

Check for compression on the cylinder that is misfiring. If compression is good 100lbs or better than see if the injector is pulsing( you need a noid light for this). It could also be the spark so check and see if you have spark.

The pedal feels 'spongy on my '97 Saab SE Turbo';

If the master cylinder is bad, the pedal will sink under constant pressure. When the booster fails, it usually leaks vacuum and you can hear it. Do you have either of these symptoms? If not, check to make sure your booster is getting vacuum from the intake manifold. It should let off a bunch of vacuum when you pull the hose out of it.

I am thinking of buying

Good Evening. The Saab brand is a nice car, dependable and strong if maintained properly. Living in the Los Angeles area will cost you a pretty penny no matter what kind of vehicle you may have. Also being 13year old car makes the parts a little cheaper than being just a few years old. Just be sure you have it checked out first by whichever mechanic you currently use that way you are sure you are buying something in good shape to start out. Hope this helps you out, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Stop car for aminute at

Is the check/service engine light on?
Have you checked all your fuses?
Have you check the fuel pump relay?

Next would be to figure out if it is not getting spark or not getting fuel

You can pull one spark plug out, place it back on the wire, lay the plug on top of the motor with the plug prong about 1/8" away from a metal surface. Have someone else turn the motor over while you watch for a spark. Should be a good strong spark. Place the plug back into the head and go on to the next plug and do the same thing.
If you don't have spark, you will want to test your crankshaft position sensor. That is what provides spark to the ignition module and then coil packs.
If you do have good spark to every plug, then next thing would be to check for fuel
Turn the key to the ON position but do not start, You should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds while it pumps up fuel pressure.
If you do not hear the pump hum, then check your fuel pump relay. You can also use a voltmeter and test power to the relay as well as to the pump.
On the fuel rail, there is also a test port. You can remove the cap on the test valve, then place a rag over the valve and press in on the valve. There should be plenty of fuel pressure. If not, then fuel filter may be plugged or fuel pump may not be working.

A vehicle needs spark and fuel to run.

Some vehicles have a fuel pump safety shut off valve on the passenger side kick panel, It can get set off. This would cut power off to the fuel pump.

The ignition got water inside and now its sticking

try blowing the switch out with compressed air to get all of the moisture out, then put some graphite powder into it using the key to get it in,don't use any spray lubricants as these attract dust & cause it to clog, they are only temporary solutions.....hope this helps.......cheers
