1998 Saab 900SE Turbo. It keeps frying alternators. How do I test for a faulty ground wire?

Why would you think the ground wire is faulty? But if you want to test it, put one multimeter probe on the ground wire and one on the chassis of a lot attached to the chassis. You need an auto electrician. https://www.google.com/search?q=auto+electrician+near+me ..

OBD II do not read my SAAB 2001 9-3 problem, only error messages. My fuse OK but no electrical voltage between #4 and #16. P.S.

WHAT COUNTRY IS THIS, obd2 IS 1996 UP usa this forum is seen WWW, all over the world, so what country is yours UK, or India or ? AND 2007 UP IN OTHERS, OR HIGHER. IS THIS CAR GAS(PETROL) OR DIESEL FUELED? DOES IT CRANKS FAST AND NOT START OR DOES NOT CRANK AT ALL OR JUST CLICKS OR CHATTERS. WE SURE CANT HEAR IT FAIL HERE, IN THE BLIND.(+DEAF) 9-3 NINE - THERE HAD 5 ENIGINE NEW, 4GAS AND 1 DIESEL. WE CAN NOT GUESS ENGINES. IN USA 2 ENGINES ONLY BOTH GAS, 2.0 AND 2.3L both turbo. both run strange huge 4 coil integrated coil pack. tricky to test like that. so now I go generic. if it does not crank there are 6 to 10 cause of dead starter motor if it does crank fast there are up to 50 causes, it will not start, run or stay running. oK, so which is it. what is P.S and the two numbers mean<> 4 and 16, is this a fuse? OBD2 on the usa car , needs modern scan tool, not 1996 versions USA cab fuse4 is Trunk light; switch illumination; electrically powered radio antenna fuse 16 is:Electrically operated front seat, left so are not it. engine bay fuses 4 = vacuum pump 16= no such fuse. 15 is max. but what is P.S, power steering? fuse 13 cab blown makes the oBD2 scanner post pin16 dead, no 12vdc there. 13= radio + diagnostics. makes scan tool dead too on most scan tools made OBD2. some fuses only go hot if key is on. some only go hot, if the named device on the fuse is enabled, some are hot all the times like head lamps and more. the service manual covers all that. but I have no access to one (sad face) now for SOUND the sound of a good fast starter cranking a dead engine. https://freesound.org/people/drdeath666/sounds/687447/ first answer that.

My 2003 Saab stock stereo works, so does the clicking sound when u signal, 3 speakers in dash panel works 2 speakers in the back works. But the 2 on the front doors aren't. Help fix

Could be either, a setting on stereo head unit, fader may have been turned so that sound is just coming from select speakers. Or could be your front speakers are not wired up or there is a fuse blown. Note: clicking from turn signal does not come from stereo speakers.

06 saab 9-3 2.0t headlight relay location

2006 SAAB. NO PROBLEM TOLD AT ALL just another endless hunt. head lamps fail on ON and in AUTO mode? lows and high beams all fail>? welcome to where-is-dot-com first off on newer cars there is no relay , BCM does the magic./ or the relay is for auto sun sensing only. does the car drive ok in the day? all electrics work? but heads. does car have DRL or auto sun head lamp feature? I will answer for USA cars, other countries lighting laws are not like ours. and no VIN or country told at all USA answer 1. check all fuses. scan the PCM the OBD2 port under dash with a scan tool and see BCM errors for head lamps. old cars had relays or only for DRL. newer cars the BCM uses a high power electronic driver (FET based) to run lamps. (vast in car) A BCM may run every lamp in the car ,not cluster. get your service manual for the car and read head lamp tests there. and the schematic. ours is missing here online. fuse 15 heads relay 14? seen here, random country there. https://www.autogenius.info/saab-9-3-2006-fuse-box-diagram/ first google hit but it is just a guess it matches any countries version of this car.

I recently purchased a 2008 Saab 9-3 but the owner didn't have the original key so do I need to purchase a new immobilizer as well as a new key!

No just a new key / keys. The key talks to the immobilizer and sets you up. Make sure you get two keys, have them cut and then both paired to the immobilizer module. You just need a good auto-locksmith.. Never end up with only one key and then no keys. And no you can't bypass the immobilizer, especially on a Saab!

Foot ******* the brake and rack through all the gears 3 times. That will normally fix it. If not, you need an auto electrician.

1986 Saab 900. "Park Light" comes on and windows, hvac, turn signals, wipers stop working. Occasionally if I fill the brake fluid reservoir the light goes out and stuff starts works. Thoughts?

It sounds like there may be an electrical issue with your 1986 Saab 900 that is causing the "Park Light" to come on and disabling some of the electrical components in the vehicle. The fact that filling the brake fluid reservoir sometimes resolves the issue suggests that there may be a problem with the brake fluid level sensor or the wiring associated with it. Here are a few things you can check to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the brake fluid level: Make sure the brake fluid level is within the recommended range. If the fluid level is low, try filling it to the recommended level and see if that resolves the issue. If the fluid level is already at the recommended level, move on to the next step.
  2. Inspect the brake fluid level sensor: The "Park Light" may be coming on due to a faulty brake fluid level sensor. Check the sensor and wiring for any signs of damage or corrosion. If the sensor or wiring is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  3. Check the electrical connections: Make sure all electrical connections associated with the brake fluid level sensor and other components are secure and free from corrosion or damage. Loose or corroded connections can cause electrical issues.
  4. Check the fuses: If the issue is not resolved after checking the above, it is possible that a fuse associated with the electrical components is blown. Check the fuses in the vehicle to see if any are blown and replace them as needed

2008 Saab 9-3 2.0T 6-speed manual overheating-put coolant in, no leaks, put new thermostat in-still overheats - engine gurgles

gurgle means air in the system.. these are sensitive to air as a bubble will stop the liquid from circulating.. there will be a bleed screw on the top of the engine at the high point of the system. with the car running loosen that screw the air will come out let it idle a while and do it again until no air comes out .. the other problem can be the recovery tank if it (or a hose) has even a tiny pin leak it will not function right... and the radiator cap can also be an issue as these age. good luck with it.. i had this problem before and when you are chasing pin hole leaks it can be hard

Where is the Starter location for Saab 2007

Hi, the starter is located directly beneath the power steering reservoir. Since it charges the battery, you should see this connection between the two in order to verify the starter. Please also reference the starter by looking at a parts website . This will ensure you have picked the right instrument of your car. Thank you.

Had this sign limited performance pop up on my dashboard of my 2007 Saab 9-3 1.9tdi had some one look at it they plugged it in and come up with cruise control switch ? and im getting abit of turbolag

I can't see it myself even though I have no experience of the car model. Lots of the vehicle content is Vauxhall/Opel/GM (I think) suitably modified by Saab. It doesn't sound logical that a dodgy cruise control switch would cause reduced performance. A reduced performance condition is usually caused by something that affects tailpipe emissions or something affecting engine integrity or reliability. I heard on the grapevine some Vauxhall models have reduced performance simply because they are overdue for some maintenance and once the service indicator has been reset they are fine again. I don't know how true this is. I know of one Vauxhall that flags up an overboost fault and cuts performance when there is an egr valve fault. The true cause could not be discovered by a generic obd scanner and it was only when it was plugged into something with some very expensive dedicated software that it became obvious. There is no telling what the Saab boffins have done to the management programmes. There are vehicles around that go into reduced performance if the oil level or pressure is low and maybe they thought that might be a good idea. I suggest you continue your Saab research at the local Saab dealer or on one of the specialised forums, but certainly I suggest you get the code re-read by a dedicated diagnostic machine.

My 2003 saab 9-3 2.0y does not have a fuel filter

ok, that is not true ever, but is now hidden. in the USA the EPA banned the fuel filter (gas/petrol) engine to not have simple easy to replace, inline fuel filters. SM quote: "SAAB 9-3 for 2003-06 and 9-5 for 2006 have the fuel filter mounted on the fuel pump/sending unit located in the fuel tank." they moved it to the pump by EDICT. we check fuel pressure at the RAIL, not drop tanks at the drop of hat, no,. we check it to spec,. pressure PSI . at idle and WOT we check injector balance and leakdown rate. there are 2 filters, there, one called the fuel pickup sock, and then the 40micron filter at top of pump. the FUel pump regulator is on top of engine, not at the pump seen in even newer cars(EPA more edicts later) EPA(this new location reduces fuel evaporation) due to cooler fuel. next was moving FPR and the return line to PUMP/TANK. (end history)

Electrical help for a 1990 Saab 9000

no country told, the world is huge and cars not the same in all countries, so we now go to USA cars, HERE. No ferry service to this island'?? (the car got there how>Helo?) 31year old car, not sold here now, on an island, and part for it in USA are even more rare, I'd sell it as collectors classic and invest the cash. it is not a mechanic failure it is pure electrical. the IGN feed is shorted to the HD/parr feed. a dead short. this most times can be found just looking (inspecting all key harness end points, like IGN key (behind ) or Fuse box hacks, old cars have this bad habit of attracting bad actors.(&acts) wild installs gone wrong.
  • alarm boxes added wired up super wrong. ! even fires.
  • radios wired up wrong, upgraded, (endless types)
  • remote start kits added, , I remove all I see, (dangerous tech)
  • or CB radios to talk to Smoky and the Bandit.or HAM gear.
  • or Trailer hitches wire to front of car,, crazy wrong.
the Ignition switch can be bad, some even have wires there behind it mangled if you look . find a shop get it fixed. my online line service manual site, shows zero SAAB's oops. this is not a guess, it is just short list.
